The Dreidel Boards for the Embrace A Family with Jewish Family Services is online this year through Sign Up Genius. Hopefully many of us are in a position to give during this season to those refugees who are starting a new life in the US. If you have a physical gift that needs to be delivered, please contact Sister Debbie Caulfield or Brother Mark Oakman from the Stake Communication Council and they will arrange to meet you to pick it up to be stored until the end of the cam...paign and delivered to Jewish Family Services. Brother Oakman (that's me) apologizes for getting this posted so late this year. We have had it a while but due to my starting new employment, the posting got buried in emails and thus delayed. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/jfs-lds-hayward

Samiksha Lingen of the Hayward 2nd Ward was recognized by Hayward City Council Member Francisco Zermeño as his Youngster of the Month for November 2020. It is wonderful when our youth are recognized for the lights they are in the community.
For the last several years, the members of the Church in the Bay Area have participated in gift giving with Jewish Family Service. Many of you will have seen the Dreidel Boards in your wards where we could pick a gift for a recently arrived refugee family. The Hayward Stake has a solid reputation for participating in this effort and we have provided many gifts for our brothers and sisters in their needs as new arrivals in the states. This year because we are doing so many th...ings remotely, Jewish Family Services is providing the gift needs list for us via SignUpGenius. We will be posting our stake's link of gifts requests later this week. Let's see if even during this challenging year we can maintain the reputation of generosity that the Hayward Stake has earned. There are some larger gift request and maybe some families could team up to provide the larger gifts on the list. Let's see if we cannot do 100% in 2020!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Our friends at Jewish Family & Community Services are looking for regular volunteers to help some families they serve. See the information below from an email they sent out. If you are available to assist, contact Debbie Debby Cooper-Caulfield or Mark Oakman from our stake communication team and they can help connect you with this service opportunity. Hello volunteers! It has been a long time since I've been in touch, and I hope you and your family are doi...Continue reading
Our Stake Relief Society led service project to provide back to school backpacks with supplies was so successful that there was more than 100 extra filled backpacksand additional Goodie bags of school supplies. We connected with the City of Hayward and they will be distributing the extra backpacks and supplies to families in need who come to the City’s weekly drive thru food bank distribution. Our Stake Relief Society President Gabi McDonald and the Sister Missionaries from the Hayward 2nd Ward delivered all of the backpacks this morning to Zach Ebadi who coordinates the food distribution for the City.
This special devotional is for all Young Adults - single or married. Please spread the word to those you know so they can hear this message for them from Elder & Sister Cook.

We want to thank those that helped participate in the indexing challenge during June. Remember Every name you index represents one more chance that someone will find his or her missing ancestor and be able to take the ancestor’s name to the temple to receive the ordinances of salvation. Thank you for your continued service!
When our hearts turn to our ancestors, something changes inside us. We feel part of something greater than ourselves. Our inborn yearnings for family connections are fulfilled when we are linked to our ancestors through sacred ordinances of the temple. (Russell M. Nelson, Generations Linked in Love, Ensign, May 2010, 92.) https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org//generations-linked-in

We have had about 6 people reach out that they are available to help out with our stake assignment to assist with this event. Our assignment is to find 15 volunteers from 8am-11am. A full third of our assignment is set up prior to the start of the actual event. Please reach out to Mark Oakman if you can help out with this assignment.
Our stake has been invited (along with several other stakes throughout the Bay Area) to work with the Salvation Army to assist in providing food to those in need during this time of crisis for so many. The Hayward Stake assignment has us working with the Salvation Army and the ACTS Full Gospel Church of God in Christ on Saturday May 16 from 8-11 AM. We will be assembling food boxes and starting distribution for the day at the site. The site is the ACTS Full Gospel Church of... God in Christ at 1034 66th Ave in Oakland. We have been asked to provide 15 volunteers for this assignment. If your health and circumstances allow you to answer the call to serve our brothers and sisters in the community, please respond here or reach out to Brother Mark Oakman of the stake a High Council.

The City of Hayward along with the Alameda County Community Food Bank will be hosting a drive thru food distribution. They will be holding this tomorrow, Thursday, 4/30/2020, beginning at noon and going until 4pm or whenever they have given out all they have to give this day. This will be held at Skywest Golf Course in Hayward, 1401 Golf Course Road, Hayward CA 94541. As you drive up they will ask your zip code, how many people in your household, how many seniors in your hou...sehold, and how many children in your household. You will then be invited to pull forward, open your trunk, and volunteers will load groceries into your car. If such a service can help your family during these difficult times so that your resources are free to take care of other necessities, then we encourage you to take advantage of this free community service. Tomorrow is the pilot day and the city hopes to be able to provide this service every Thursday until the end of the current shelter in place.
