Gwen Douglas and Danielle Earl, with Darryl Higginbotham, who brought in the very last pheasant of the 2020 - 2021 Pheasant Season. We look forward to to a bit of rest this summer before the start of our next pheasant season on September 25th. Feel free to visit us during the summer for a chukar hunt, to board your dogs, train or exercise your dogs in the field, fish off our levees or simply have a picnic on a warm beautiful day at the Club. And.....don’t forget that the club is closed during the entire month of June.
Emily Church and Don Billups enjoy the last hunt of the 2020-2021 Season. Nice to see what two great hunters, with excellent dogs, can accomplish!!
As a reminder, the Club will be closed on Sunday, April 4th, in observance of Easter. Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Easter!
Katelyn and Greg Oliveira enjoyed an afternoon of hunting away from the kids. We are glad that you had fun and were able to join us at the Club.
Unfortunately, the Club will close Monday, December 21, 2020 and reopen on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. We greatly apologize for this inconvenience. Stay safe, be well and we look forward to seeing you in early January.
A fun look back at a little Club history. This photo is from 1978. If you have any old photos that you would be willing to share with us, please contact Danielle at the Club office.
Member Teresa Vegher (right side) brought her sister, Mary (left side), to the Club, for Mary's very first pheasant hunt. Looks like they had fun and success the field. Way to go ladies and congratulations, Mary, on your first bird!!
The photo says it all !!!! Stop by the coffee shop for some tasty to go treats the next time you are at the Club.
Adam Parrish organized the seventh annual Hunters for Christ event at the Club this weekend. As you’ll notice in the pictures, a higher power changed a number of hens into roosters! Although we are at that time of year when we release mostly hens, you never know when some roosters may miraculously appear in the fields. Back Row: Adam Parrish, Mike Hendrickson and Peter Graves Front Row: Jason Bontrager and Craig Steven
(Left and Right sides) Member John Staggs and friend David Devicienzi - mentors and dog handlers - took novice hunters Kathleen Olson, Victoria Smith, Christina Nae for their first hunt at the Club’s Women’s Novice Hunt on Saturday, October 10th. These first time hunters learned about gun/field safety, strategies for effectively hunting upland game and working dogs. Everyone got their first birds!!!
Bri and Cindy Larsen, after a fun Saturday morning hunt. It’s wonderful to see Cindy passing on hunting tradition and skills to her daughter. The Club's Novice Women's Hunt will be held on Saturday, October 10th. This hunt is designed for women who are new to, and want to learn more about, upland game bird hunting. The cost of the event is $225.00 per person and includes the following: the day starts with coffee and pastries and the opportunity to visit with our Club Manag...er, Danielle Earl; this will be followed by a gun safety discussion and demonstration; then a live fire on our trap shooting range, with instruction on how to improve your shooting ability and discussion regarding the safe handling of your gun in the field; on to a guided hunt (with a very low hunter to guide ratio), where each novice hunter can take up to four birds. Guides will teach novice hunters strategies on how maximize success in the field, where to find birds, field etiquette and courtesy, safety when hunting in a group, etc. There will also be discussions on how to properly handle dogs during a hunt; the differences between hunting over pointing versus flushing dogs, etc. There will be a break mid-day for lunch, which will be followed by an afternoon hunt, if desired. Bird cleaning is included. Hunters will need to arrive with their own gun, a 2020 California hunting license with upland game bird stamp, and ammunition. Sturdy footgear and a hunting vest are highly recommended. If needed, the Club also has blaze orange hats and t-shirts, and eye and ear protection for sale. Please call the Club Office for more details and availability for this not to be missed fun and instructive event.
Please be reminded that the Club is NOT currently open for after-hunting hours activities. This includes overnight camping and fishing. While we look forward to returning to full operations at some point in the future, we simply are not yet there. In the meantime, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

The 2020 - 2021 Pheasant Hunting Season begins Saturday, September 26th. We are excited for the opening of pheasant season. Although your experience in the field should be the same as in prior years, we have made some adjustments to our operations around the Clubhouse. Please see the Current Club Access page on our website for details: http://www.hihp.com/current-club-access/ We are looking forward to another wonderful Season and seeing you at the Club!!!
Chris Hutson (right side) was the winner of the Club’s 2020 Trap Shooting Competition. Caleb Wison (left side) came in second place. Congratulations to both of you!!!
Sachiko Anderson was training dogs with her mother, Leslie, at the Club this past weekend. Sachiko is a Junior Handler for both conformation and field. Pictured below, with Moonlight Believe It Or Not!, both dog and trainer seem to be forming a close bond and having lots of fun.

Thank you again to Tara Griffin for all of the wonderful photos that she has provided to us. Tara along with Tucker (left side, who took two first place ribbons) and Jewel (right side, who took a first and a fourth) at the end of a very successful weekend. Tara’s smile say it all !!!!
Last weekend, the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Northern California had a walking field trial at the Club. It was a great opportunity for members to spend time at the Club and enjoy a beautiful day, while competing in the field to show off their dogs and all of the hard working and training that they have been putting into them. Tara Griffin took some wonderful photos of the event. Thank you, Tara! Ricardo Vyhmeister with his dog Bliss (top photo) had a successful day ...in the field. Scott Azevedo (dog handler in red shirt) and Jim Simmons (dog owner in the green shirt) with Jim’s shorthair, Cole, surrounded by event judges presenting them a first place ribbon. Congratulations to Team Cole.
