Bri and Cindy Larsen, after a fun Saturday morning hunt. It’s wonderful to see Cindy passing on hunting tradition and skills to her daughter. The Club's Novice Women's Hunt will be held on Saturday, October 10th. This hunt is designed for women who are new to, and want to learn more about, upland game bird hunting. The cost of the event is $225.00 per person and includes the following: the day starts with coffee and pastries and the opportunity to visit with our Club Manag...er, Danielle Earl; this will be followed by a gun safety discussion and demonstration; then a live fire on our trap shooting range, with instruction on how to improve your shooting ability and discussion regarding the safe handling of your gun in the field; on to a guided hunt (with a very low hunter to guide ratio), where each novice hunter can take up to four birds. Guides will teach novice hunters strategies on how maximize success in the field, where to find birds, field etiquette and courtesy, safety when hunting in a group, etc. There will also be discussions on how to properly handle dogs during a hunt; the differences between hunting over pointing versus flushing dogs, etc. There will be a break mid-day for lunch, which will be followed by an afternoon hunt, if desired. Bird cleaning is included. Hunters will need to arrive with their own gun, a 2020 California hunting license with upland game bird stamp, and ammunition. Sturdy footgear and a hunting vest are highly recommended. If needed, the Club also has blaze orange hats and t-shirts, and eye and ear protection for sale. Please call the Club Office for more details and availability for this not to be missed fun and instructive event.

Please be reminded that the Club is NOT currently open for after-hunting hours activities. This includes overnight camping and fishing. While we look forward to returning to full operations at some point in the future, we simply are not yet there. In the meantime, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Sachiko Anderson was training dogs with her mother, Leslie, at the Club this past weekend. Sachiko is a Junior Handler for both conformation and field. Pictured below, with Moonlight Believe It Or Not!, both dog and trainer seem to be forming a close bond and having lots of fun.

Last weekend, the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Northern California had a walking field trial at the Club. It was a great opportunity for members to spend time at the Club and enjoy a beautiful day, while competing in the field to show off their dogs and all of the hard working and training that they have been putting into them. Tara Griffin took some wonderful photos of the event. Thank you, Tara! Ricardo Vyhmeister with his dog Bliss (top photo) had a successful day ...in the field. Scott Azevedo (dog handler in red shirt) and Jim Simmons (dog owner in the green shirt) with Jim’s shorthair, Cole, surrounded by event judges presenting them a first place ribbon. Congratulations to Team Cole.
