Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance refers to the three central factors in measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an investment in a company or business. Analysis of these criteria are thought by some to help to better determine the future financial performance of companies. ESG investing is a way to build a more ethical portfolio, and it's easier than you might think to get started. You've likely heard of "voting with your dollars," or using your mon...ey to make purchases at businesses you believe in. But choosing your local bookstore over a national brand isn't the only way you can make an impact. There are strategies, such as ESG investing, to put your investment dollars to work in a similar way. Why should I care about ESG investing? Aside from the benefits of creating a more ethical portfolio, there is evidence that ESG investments deliver similar returns as traditional investments and potentially carry less risk. ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Two Thousand and Twenty ‘Twas the night before Christmas two thousand and twenty The world was a mess, the troubles were plenty COVID was rampant, the market was crazy... Meeting by Zoom was making us lazy Dry cleaners missed us, and so did the chefs Auto repairmen, and those who sold desks With holidays near, we should be covered in glitter Instead all we get is more &*^% on Twitter But things are a changing, the New Year feels brighter Even the VIX is feeling much lighter Then came the news we all wanted to hear Pfizer announced that a vaccine was here A glimmer of hope spread through the land Even Congress would give us a hand So listen real closely on this Christmas Eve You’ll hear some new folks who roll up their sleeves On Biden, on Harris, on Yellen (you vixen) On Fauci, on science, the world needs a fixin They sprang in to action with no time to spare It’s thrilling, it’s shocking they all seem to care Santa was happy to see this hard work, He sprang to his sleigh, gave those reins a small jerk I think you will hear as he flies out of sight Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

People in the UK get first COVID-19 vaccinations. Why it matters: Margaret Keenan, a 90-year-old woman in the UK, was the first person in the country to get the vaccine against COVID-19. The UK starts virus campaign with a shot watched round the world. In London, a nurse rolled up 90-year-old Margaret Keenan’s sleeve and administered a shot watched round the world - the first jab in the U.K.’s COVID-19 vaccination program kicking off an unprecedented global effort to try to ...end a pandemic that has killed 1.5 million people. Keenan, a retired shop clerk from Northern Ireland who celebrates her birthday next week, was at the front of the line at University Hospital Coventry to receive the vaccine that was approved by British regulators last week. The U.K. is the first Western country to deliver a broadly tested and independently reviewed vaccine to the general public. The COVID-19 shot was developed by U.S. drugmaker Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech. The U.S. and European Union regulators may approve it in the coming weeks as the US lags the world, but it feels like there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I wholeheartedly agree. #covid #investmentadvisor #fiduciary #investmentadvice #trumpvirus #cornavirus #recession2020 #economy Hartfield Financial & Insurance Services, Inc. Nasdaq to Advance Diversity through New Proposed Listing Requirements. Why it matters: This is an interesting move by the Nasdaq and also not a surprise because Adena Friedman is darn good at seeing the world beyond Wall Street. The proposal calls for companies listed on the Nasdaq to disclose statistics about the diversity of their board of directors. The proposal also calls for companies to have at least one female and one minority director -- or offer an explanation as to ...why they don't. Nasdaq’s purpose is to champion inclusive growth and prosperity to power stronger economies, said Adena Friedman, President and CEO, Nasdaq. Our goal with this proposal is to provide a transparent framework for Nasdaq-listed companies to present their board composition and diversity philosophy effectively to all stakeholders; we believe this listing rule is one step in a broader journey to achieve inclusive representation across corporate America. #investmentadvisor #fiduciary #investmentadvice #diversityandinclusion #diversity #representationmatters #inclusion #inclusionmatters

Biden names Yellen to Treasury to lead US from sharp economic downturn President-elect Joe Biden has nominated former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen as U.S. Treasury secretary, breaking a 231-year gender barrier and putting a seasoned economist and labor market expert in charge of leading the country out of the steepest downturn since the Great Depression. Yellen, 74, brings Biden decades of economic policy experience and is respected by Congress, international finance of...ficials, progressives and business interests alike. She has called for opening fiscal spending taps to revive an economy wracked by the coronavirus pandemic and would be the first person to head the Treasury, the Fed and the White House Council of Economic Advisers. Yellen made history in 2014 when she became the first woman to chair the Federal Reserve after serving for a decade as San Francisco Fed president and a Fed governor. U.S. stocks picked up ground following the report.

Virus Could Deplete Social Security Funds By 2030 The Social Security trust fund could be depleted by 2030, five years earlier than the official government estimate before the coronavirus hit, because of the recession and long-term near-zero interest rates triggered by the pandemic. The trust fund that pays retirement benefits would run out in a decade if the current economic downturn is as severe as the recession following the 2008 financial crisis, the Bipartisan Policy Cen...ter said in a report issued Thursday. Even under the most optimistic economic projections, the fund could run out of money by 2034, the report said. If policymakers fail to address Social Security’s financial imbalance soon, they will be left with only drastic solutions or financing a portion of promised retirement benefits through general revenues, according to the report. Tax increases will be sharper, benefit cuts will be more severe, and the cohorts of workers who bear these changes will have less time to plan their finances accordingly. #investmentadvisor #fiduciary #financialplanning #retirementplanning #financialadvisor #financialplanner #retirement #interestrates #recession #trumprecession

Massive spending pushes U.S. 2020 fiscal year deficit to record $3.132 trillion The US budget deficit hit a record $3.132 trillion during fiscal 2020, more than triple the 2019 shortfall due to massive spending, the US Treasury said Friday. The deficit more than doubled the previous record of $1.416 trillion in fiscal 2009, when the United States was battling a financial crisis. The final fiscal 2020 deficit numbers come as the current Administration and Congress have been un...able to agree on a new round of coronavirus stimulus, with many Senate Republicans calling for fiscal restraint in another package since the passing their tax cut to the wealthy in September 2017. In September 2017, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin said that not only would the GOP’s tax plan pay for itself, but it will pay for the debt. He also claimed it would cut down the deficits by a trillion dollars. Obviously that did not happen however the wealthy and large corporations are extremely happy. Meet the new Fed policy: Low interest rates for years to come Federal Reserve announced the conclusion of its highly anticipated multiyear framework review. The big reveal? We can expect short-term interest rates to remain at or near zero for years to come. For investors, the prospect of an investment landscape where income is scarce has become a reality that will need to be addressed - not only in the current economic crisis, but long after.... The real issue for investors will be what comes after this economic crisis. Many hope that over the coming year or two, the economy will continue its recovery. This could happen even faster should a vaccine or more effective treatments help suppress the pandemic. But today’s announcement has made clear that even a return of steady, potential growth would mean the Fed would likely leave rates where they are at zero. The end of the economic crisis would likely mean the end of liquidity measures, but not the end of the zero interest rate policy. In other words, a return to a pre-COVID economy would not mean a return to pre-COVID income. #investmentadvisor #investmentadvice #investmentmanagement #fiduciary #retirement #retirementplanning #economy #interestrates

In the second quarter of 2020, U.S. equities staged a remarkable recovery from the first quarter’s decline. Why do I get a Form 5498? If you own an IRA, you’ll receive a Form 5498, IRA Contribution Information, from your IRA custodian each year. Form 5498 reports contribution activity and the fair market value of the entire IRA, as well for certain types of alternative investments held within the IRA. IRA custodians generally must file Form 5498 with the IRS and provide a copy to IRA owners by May 31. This year, however, the deadline has been extended to July 15. Form 5498 is not required to be filed with your tax return. #retirementplanning #taxes #tax #invetmentadvice #investmentadvisor #financialplanning #taxreturn
