Meanwhile, in our latest mindfulness session before nap, as students are laying on their mats with their eyes closed: Me: Keep your eyes closed and continue to take deeeeep breaths and slowly breath out. Let’s use our imaginations. You ARE the ocean. Feel the water flow through your body all the way to your toes. Waves are crashing through you. Are your waves hard of soft? Some students Soft! Others: Mine are hard waves.... Me: Nice! Waves can be both hard and soft. There is much life that lives beneath your ocean, some small, some large. What animals do you see in your ocean? One student: A cow! Me: OOOOOOOOOkaaaaaaaaaaaaay..... Clearly not all of our imaginations are the same.
