#twofillingtuesdays Many wonder "how the heck" pediatric dentists take care of sugar bugs that occur between the teeth that are discovered on x-rays. This awesome young child was so cooperative and allowed us to capture the steps to fix two cavities today! 1. Freeze the sugar bugs with tingle jelly and ice drops. Sometimes, an astronaut mask with sweet air helps this happen easier.... 2. Wrap the teeth in a waterproof blanket so that they can take a nice nap. 3. Blast out the hidden sugar bugs with our power toothbrushes before the ice melts and the bugs wake up. There should be clean keyhole shapes after the bugs are washed out (picture 1). 4. Give the teeth a car wash, then wrap the teeth in foil so that they don't get glued together. The toothpick keeps the foils from flying away in the wind (picture 2). 5. Patch the keyholes with putty that looks like your original teeth (picture 3). 6. Keep the sugar bugs away by avoiding sticky/sweet snacks, flossing every night, and brushing with fluoride toothpaste! #nocavities #pediatricdentistry #pediatricdentist
