With spring almost here it is a great time for spring cleaning all the way around. It is the perfect time to have your home inspected for termites, rodents, and general pests as part of your spring cleaning routine

We had just one big rain and the rat calls are going crazy. I know its just another thing yo do, however, taking care of them sooner rather than later will save in the long run.

Hearing noises in the attic? Sure it could be the neighbor's cat on the roof, or it could be RATS. They like to burrow down in your warm, fluffy insulation, especially when it's cold and wet. Give us a call, we'll check it out for free. Our professional rodent exclusion packages are second to none.

This had been a particularly active season for rodents. Make sure your vent covers are in place, doors properly seal and no holes or gaps are present that would allow rodents into you walls or attic.

Going into fall and winter you may see fewer pests, however, that doesn't mean lessening your grip on pest control. Maintaining a pest control regime during the cooler months, whether it's "do your own" or a paid service, will make all the difference in maintaining control in the spring and summer to follow.

Well, it's been hot for Sure! And now it's cooling down a little. With weather change, comes bug change too. I know drywood termites are swarming again, so you may see the winged termites out in full force. To get rid of the swarmers on your carpet, suck them up with a vacuum. It is not a permanent fix and will not destroy the colony in your wood from which they came, however, it will get them off your floor or out of the window frame until they calm down and you can think about more permanent solutions. Consider having a termite inspection and finding out about termite control options.

What did you think of the phenomenal eclipse? Although not in the path of totality, I was in awe.

FLEAS! Do you have pets and are at your wits end on controlling their fleas? While treating the yard will help knock them down, the best bet is to keep your pet on an oral flea medication prescribed by your vet. At least through late spring and summer months. No, I don't have a partnership with veterinarians, it is just that the topical treatments are not nearly as effective as they were when they were first developed years ago.

These are swarming subterranean termites. They live in the ground and build tubes out of mud that the use to creep into the wood of your home. The destruction they cause is done more quickly and severely than that drywood termites.

When repairs for termite damage or wood rot are needed, remember that the only people that can give you a clearance on the property or validate that the wood rot or termite damage has successfully been remediated is a licensed Branch 3 inspector. Although a contractor or a handyman might say they can do the work, they do not have the training, expertise, or license to properly remove the infectious materials. They definitely do not have the license or training to treat for termite infections. Only a licensed Branch 3 WDO company can issue a termite report and give a clearance and guarantee stating the termite, fungus, dry rot, or other WDO condition has been removed and replaced or repaired.

Thinking of selling your home? It is a good idea to get a Wood Destroying Organism report (more commonly referred to as a termite report) before you list or soon after. By doing this, you will know what work and costs will be necessary prior to closing escrow.
