This photo is the perfect example as to why stylists make a "" face when our clients say their color is all "washed out". (This lovely client of mine did not state that, we're just using her hair as an example.) If you notice in the left picture, she had very dark natural roots, and a lighter artificially colored mids-ends. Moving to the right side, which area lifted better? The very dark NATURAL regrowth, or the lighter previously colored mids-ends? The interesting part ...is that the darkest area on her head lifted to a perfect platinum, while the mids-ends stayed brassy/orange, even though the mids-ends had a lighter starting point as far as level. The reason for that is artificial pigments vs. no artificial pigments. No matter how much you believe your hair color has faded, it is still living there within your hair strands. If you have previously colored hair, and you're wanting to be blonde, trust your stylist!
