5 weeks. In 5 weeks I safely saw 52 people in my single chair studio. My extremely clean, temperature controlled, single chair studio. Not 1 case of Covid19. I spent 1600 hours in cosmetology school, most of which was spent learning proper disinfection & sanitation protocols. We can be fined a ridiculous amount of money if a hair is found in a clean brush, or if a clean container is not covered. Now I’m told in order to work, I need to do it outside only. How am I supposed to... keep my tools clean when outside with no access to water? How am I to keep guests comfortable in 100 degree weather? How am I supposed to provide for my family on a 1/4 of my income? How are we supposed to survive? Working outside isn’t a viable option. It’s a slap in the face to my industry. We don’t just do hair. This is a real career. With real people. Who have real families who depend on this career to put food on the table, & a roof over our heads. This is not the answer.
