Ever shopped at the Boardwalk Shopping Center in Belvedere? You might be surprised to know that it’s constructed on what was once the Tiburon Lagoon. In 1955, Belvedere architect (and resident), John Lord King, brilliantly designed the shopping center. With a unique foundation of concrete beams resting on concrete footings, Hadley constructed the building over thousands of tons of compacted fill. So the next time you are visiting the Boardwalk, you’ll have a fun fact to share with fellow shoppers!
