We're rounding out our #WomenHistoryMonth celebration with a story close to our hearts -- the story of Habitat's very own CFO & COO, Jean. For Jean, so much of the reward in Habitat comes from the community that manifests our mission, and she is grateful for it: I have found purpose and direction in waking up each day to join all of you in doing this work. Read how, even without a hammer, Jean’s a prime example of how #womenbuild through Habitat: https://hubs.ly/H0KhHC90 #BuildHer #BuildMore

Did you know that we have served over 11,000 people in the Bay Area since 1986? Behind each of those numbers is a story of transformative change. The mother who earned her college degree after becoming a Habitat homeowner. The senior who literally breathes easier after Habitat repaired moldy installation. The woman who no longer holds her breath when paying her bills. At Habitat, we help families write that chapter of change in their life story.
Yesterday was a heavy lift for Habitat literally! We moved a 2-story, 4-unit building down a San Jose street on Sunday morning, all so we could save a historic property from the wrecking ball and give it new life as affordable homes for four families earning low incomes. Thanks to Preservation Action Council of San Jose for helping us raise the funds and awareness to #SaveThePallesen, City of San José for the land and critical financing for the project, KT Urban and Scape for donating this gorgeous building, and our incredible community for coming together to #BuildMore. Have a look at what it takes to move a building through a city street! https://youtu.be/YBHv2oWYxAo
Help Habitat make the #CostOfHome something we all can afford!
Join us tomorrow morning for a virtual discussion about ways we can build Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s vision of the Beloved Community a community that prevails upon the standards of human decency to reject poverty and discrimination. Habitat's + You series panel will discuss the role that safe, decent and affordable housing plays in the Beloved Community, and the prospects for change following the inauguration of the Biden-Harris Administration. RSVP below to learn more and for event reminders!
Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by committing to build what Dr. King called "the beloved community" one that prevails upon the standards of human decency to reject poverty and discrimination. May his words continue to inspire change and help us build a better, more equitable world. #MLKDay #BuildMore #BelovedCommunity

Changing your financial habits can be hard. Start by making small changes gradually, and tracking your progress along the way to see how far you’ve come! It’s important to be kind to yourself as change takes time. It’s a marathon, not a sprint! #TipTuesday
