Happy #ThrowbackThursday! Today we're thinking about the Cultural Roots and Eats workshop we held in January-- these kids learned how to make delicious ozni (soup with mochi)! Ozni is heavily associated with Oshgatsu, or Japanese New Year, and it is considered to be a very auspicious dish. The workshop was a lot of fun and the soup turned out great! While we may not be able to have in-person workshops right now, you can still join us on January 9th for a virtual Oshgatsu New Year's celebration! The program will include a short presentation, mochi demo, and story reading of "Thank You Very Mochi" by author Paul Matsushima. On Sunday, December 13th we had a TNK Holiday Food Distribution for seniors. Thank you so much to our volunteers! They are all very hardworking and amazing! Our next LA Regional Food Bank Distribution will be on Wednesday, January 6th (ages 60+)! We love helping our community and much kansha once again to all our volunteers!
