Seven years ago I bit the proverbial bullet and announced to friends, family and Facebook that I was starting a business, offering services in Interior Decorating, Home Staging, and Home Organization. I’ll admit, I didn’t really have a plan- I didn’t know if anyone would be interested and being the stay-at-home parent to two young children, I wasn’t sure how much work/ family life I could juggle, but I had to try! I loved (and still love!) being a mom, but as an artistic, c...reative person at heart, I craved to do something MORE and believed I could help people with my special set of skills . Over the years my business has changed and grown tremendously and I am shocked that seven years has passed already! I want to thank all of you for your support, enthusiasm, referrals and reviews- I am so appreciative and blessed! Recently I was informed that I had been honored with another Best of HOUZZ award for customer service (7 awards for 7 years of business ) which feels fantastic- I must be doing something right, LOL! I had forgotten about this lovely door image until FB reminded me with today’s memory. It was the first marketing photo I ever used and I chose it because to me, a front door signified home. Helping people with what lay beyond the door was my desire and has since become my passion. Thank you to my clients who have turned to me for help and given me your trust over the years, it’s been a wonderful ride and I am excited to see what the future holds! Btw, I have a BEAUTIFUL new website, and invite you to check it out if you haven’t already! www.gintreadwellhome.com See more

Hello Hello! How has your weekend been going so far? I have been without running water for the past 2 days and let me tell you, it is CRAZY the things you take for granted until you don't have them anymore (ie- flushing toilets! ) Thankfully the water situation was fixed as of this afternoon and all is right with my world again! LOL. Now, let's get to the good stuff! This home transformation was 90% complete right before Christmas but due to a few product delays, I wasn'...Continue reading

Guess what?! It’s done! The laundry room is DONE! In my wildest dreams, never did I think that this project would take me almost 6 months to complete! Sure, I knew it was a little ambitious... I’d never painted a mural before and here I was, planning to paint a continuous scene that wrapped around five walls. And sure, I was free-handing the whole thing, but I consider myself fairly artistic and I did have an inspo pic to look at. But boy, did I underestimate the time i...Continue reading

Happy Saturday Friends! Can you believe that we’re already into the middle of the month? I spent this past week getting the last of the Christmas decor packed away (the house always looks so bare immediately after, don’t you think?), trying to get organized both in life and my mind for the new year, and of course jumping right back into projects that were on a brief hiatus over the holidays. Speaking of projects, I wanted to share this one with you! I started working wit...h this client back in January 2019, and it’s crazy to think that 2 years later we’re not finished with this space yet, but with Covid striking last March, it caused (and continues to cause) problems and delays with work getting done and furnishings being delivered in a timely manner. Anyway, this Great Room space is 80% complete, and is just needing some accessories and little bit of tile and millwork to be finished! Originally this home had both a Living Room and a Family Room that were separated by a wall with arched openings. The Living Room was small, the Family Room wasn’t much bigger, and both spaces feel dark and dated. The client was considering whether to knock down the wall between the two rooms (I wholeheartedly agreed), and wanted help moving forward with a new design. It took several months of planning and sourcing materials, and then the remodel began. The wall came down, and new electrical was installed. Existing carpet and builder-grade tile were torn out and replaced with gorgeous, oversized floor tiles throughout the entire downstairs which created a seamless flow from room to room. The fireplace received a facelift (and is awaiting some last bit of tilework- Covid delay!) and the entertainment center was ripped out and replaced. Neutral cream paint, custom millwork and crown moulding was added to the walls and windows. The client has allergy issues, so we did away with the drapes and old blinds and had motorized silhouette shades installed which allow for lots of light to come into the space. All new furniture was customized and ordered through Ethan Allan. Area rugs are from Stark Carpet and were customized to fit the space. What we have now is a room that feels beautifully light and airy. The backdrop is a mix of neutral cream, taupe and gray shades, with subtle patterns and textures sprinkled throughout. The style is elegant traditional, but far from stuffy. The client loves the look of chinoiserie, so we’ll be incorporating shades of blue into the space with accessories and decor. I’ll post final photos once the design is complete, but for now, take a look at the after/ befores- it’s quite a change! See more

Well here we are- the last day of 2020! None of us could have anticipated what the world would be facing when the year first began and while it is disheartening that 2021 isn’t starting off much different, I’m holding out a lot of hope that we WILL be in a better place this time next year! #nomasks #gatheringwithfriends #lotsofhugs To all of you who have followed along, commented on and shown interest in the projects I’ve posted this year, thank you for so much for your sup...port! I truly enjoy helping to create homes that bring my clients comfort and happiness. And in a time when so many of us have been required to be homebound, comfort and happiness has been especially important. So what’s in store for GT HOME Interiors? A LOT! As the new year kicks in, I’m looking to wrap up a few projects that are close to the finish line, and wait until you see the before/after pics on those! I also have several projects I’m in the middle of, and a few new ones to get started on that have patiently been waiting in the wings. There is also a possibility that a major bathroom remodel may be in the works for my own home, and yes, I still have to finish my laundry room makeover #soclose! 2021 looks to be a BUSY year for which I am #gratefulandblessed . Speaking of grateful and blessed, I want to take one last moment to recognize and thank all of the doctors, nurses, health care, grocery, restaurant and all other essential workers who never stopped giving your time, energy and efforts. 2020 was HARD. You put yourselves at risk daily to help the rest of us. Life is far from normal right now, but because of you, life DOES go on. So with hope in my heart, and champagne in my hand, I'm ready to ring in 2021!

Merry Christmas Eve! It’s hard to believe that Christmas is actually here... as long as this year has felt, Christmas came up awfully quick! Every year I tell myself I need to start holiday preparations earlier so I don’t feel like I’m scrambling last minute, and yet every year I end up scrambling! . I spent the day wrapping a few last presents, setting the table for tomorrow’s dinner (we always go casual for Christmas Eve and have a fancier Christmas Day dinner) and am n...ow sitting on the sofa watching The Crown with my family (we just started Season 3- who else is watching??) Christmas celebrating is overall quieter this year due to Covid, but I am feeling very thankful because my mother was able to join us for the month and will be celebrating Christmas and New Year’s with her. I hope this holiday finds you happy and healthy! Blessings to you all! See more

This beautiful new staircase wraps up the construction phase for my clients’ design project- just in time for Christmas! Maple stained banisters and stair treads paired with iron balausters and a white skirt truly showcases this grand staircase which is a focal point in the home. New maple wood flooring throughout replaces the previous beige carpet/ tile combo. Beige walls were painted a lovely shade of greige (Sherwin Williams Drift of Mist). We’re waiting on some new furniture, rugs and lighting fixtures, but we are well on our way! *Staircase: Darren Renfro of Custom Stairs *Paint: Aces Painting Co.

Happy Monday Everyone! I’m ready to hit the ground running as we enter into this last week of October- can you believe the holidays are JUST AROUND THE CORNER?? As we enter into November I’m hoping to wrap up a few of my projects and get the others to a good place so I can break in December to focus on family and the holiday season. While I don’t plan on doing any Christmas decorating until late November ( I may get a head start just before Thanksgiving), I have been thinking about my decorating scheme for this year and made a few early purchases that I’ll share with you soon! In the meantime, I put together this little clip of a week in the life of GT Home. Hope you like it!

A bright new door creates a welcoming entrance and makes a world of difference to the exterior (and interior) of this client’s home! Details listed under each photo. And a huge thank you to local SCV business Mike’s Windows & Door for their expertise and great customer service! I highly recommend them!

Progress! A few weeks ago I posted about a new project I was working on - a living room makeover. Clients of mine have a very large Family room with 2 niches and a fireplace along one wall. The smaller niche had cabinets that formerly housed a large aquarium, and the larger was for the entertainment center. We are making the smaller niche into a bar station with custom cabinetry, shelving and a wine fridge. The large niche is also getting new cabinets that will match in s...tyle to the bar cabinet and provide better function. The lackluster FP is getting a new facade and mantle. Wallpaper went up in the niches yesterday and looks STUNNING (little hints of metallic gold catch the light in this swirling agate pattern) and tile has started on the FP. The client, who is very handy, decided to install little spotlights in the niches himself to feature the areas a little more at night. #callmeimpressed . (Paint color was the first change we made) Things are coming together beautifully! See more

Done! Well, almost done...95% DONE!! Honestly if I don't get to the last 5%, I'm ok with it. It's 2020 and frankly, I am DONE. Some years I put a lot of thought into my holiday decor scheme, but this year I just knew that I was feeling nostalgic and wanted the house to feel cheerful, so here is my styling which I am calling "Vintage Bright". I'll admit, I had a little bit of a hard time getting going.... I had pulled out all my boxes and kept wandering around trying to... figure out where and how to put things. I just didn't know what to do! #covidmalaise But once I decided on my mantle display of Vintage Santas and colorful bottle-brush trees, the rest came together pretty naturally. New additions to my decor are two smaller trees (the tinsel one I have in my kitchen is FANTASTIC!), the staircase garland (which is the most realistic faux cedar I have ever seen!), and a few (smaller) Anna-Lee dolls picked up from an antique shop and my go to source for decor- HomeGoods! Here are my two tips when it comes to holiday decorating: 1. Don't feel like you have to put out EVERYTHING. It's ok to be selective. But definitely decorate with the things that bring you joy! 2. Don't just add holiday decor to your existing displays. If what you have out is already minimal in feel, it can work to add a holiday decorative piece. But MOST of the time it is better to swap in holiday decorating for your regular items- REMOVE the everyday piece to make room for the holiday! I included details in the captions of each photo, but let me know if you have any questions! Happy Holidays Everyone!

It’s been a busy week of pulling together flooring/ tile/ counter and paint combos! But this is fun for me and I really enjoy getting just the right mix for each of my clients. #itsallinthedetails

I often get asked for referrals for good tradespeople, and while I prefer to be the guinea pig ( trying folks out for myself first before recommending), it’s not always possible :). However, my recommendation today comes from first hand experience! If you are in need of carpet and upholstery cleaning, you can’t go wrong with Howard Rutherford @Blessed to Clean! This is actually the second time I’ve had Howard out to our house and I am as impressed now as I was before. Aft...er being quarantined for 7 months with the family, our rugs and upholstered furniture needed some freshening! Howard and his assistant arrived wearing masks, laid down tarps to protect our floors and furniture guards to protect corners. After cleaning, the furniture and carpets are damp, but not wet, and Howard has fans running to help with the drying process. In addition to carpets, area rugs and upholstery, Howard also cleans grout, windows and solar panels. He’s kind, respectful and efficient. And I’m happy to recommend his services! If you are in need of cleaning, give Howard at Blessed to Clean a call! 661-713-4870 See more

Can you believe it’s October already? While temps don’t feel like Fall here in SoCal (106 degrees today!! ), technically Fall IS here and with pumpkins showing up at all the grocery stores, I couldn’t resist grabbing a few along with some new plants to Autumn-ize my front patio! In addition to the flora and fauna, we recently had our front windows replaced. After 17 years of being hit with sun for the majority of the day, seals were popping between the glass so we lack...ed efficiency. We decided to go with replacement windows from Alpine, which allowed me to switch from white trimmed vinyl windows to BLACK trimmed vinyl windows- LOVE!! . I had the trim surrounding our windows repainted white ( brown against the black was not pretty), and I swapped out our existing light fixtures for larger ones that reflected more of a Spanish flair, complimentary to our house. I’m not sure if we’ll be putting up our usual Halloween decor this year... we don’t anticipate Trick ‘O Treaters with Covid still a problem, but Jack o lanterns will definitely be making an appearance closer to the 31st . In the meantime I’m really happy with the mini face-lift the old homestead got! Included below is a photo from when we first bought the house. Paint alone made such a difference, but the little touches we’ve incorporated over the years have definitely improved our home’s appearance. See more

Happy Sunday Everyone! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! My day has been spent Autumn-izing my front patio with some fairytale pumpkins ( great options at Trader Joe’s and Albertsons! ) and fresh florals in pots (my trick- use pots that are bigger than what the plants come in, then just insert the plant into pot- no actual planting needed!! ) About to put a couple hours painting in my laundry room ( I’m 80% finished folks! ), then I’m going to make dinner and settle in fo...r some Netflix with the family. Not a bad Sunday :) Wanted to share a new project I’m working on- a Family Room makeover that is spilling over into the staircase and Master Bedroom... lol. New paint is up, custom bar and tv cabinets are being built, the fireplace is getting a new facade and wallpaper was just decided on for the niches. Carpet and tile are coming out and luxury vinyl tile (wood look) is going in. The clients decided to update their staircase with iron balusters and a handrail will be stained to tie- in with the floor. New shades have been ordered and new furniture is next on the to-do list! (Taking down the old window treatments and repainting the room made such a difference already- look at the before pics!). Hoping to have all work completed by Thanksgiving

Finally made it down to the Fabric district and was happy to see so many of the locations open and people shopping and supporting these small businesses! So many gorgeous fabric options, but the one that really caught my eye was this fantastic chenille with tiger print. So fun for covering a small stool or for pillow covers

Happy Labor Day Everyone! Hope whatever you are doing you are managing to stay cool! #westcoastheatwave For my part, I’ll be staying INSIDE today, enjoying the AC, a cocktail (or two!), and patting myself on the back for putting together this mini movie of a recently finished project! Make sure your sound is on ‘cause what’s a movie without ? Enjoy!

Thanks to all of you who responded to my poll on Sunday! Hands down, an overwhelming majority of you preferred fabric #1- Flora & Fauna! And I can totally see why as the pattern is truly lovely and would be fitting with the look of my grandmother’s chair . But a number of you also liked the other two fabric options which reinforced that I had 3 great choices :) I have made my decision and will be ordering fabric this week after I’ve confirmed with the upholsterer how muc...h I need. Once the chair gets sent off I’m looking at about a 4 week turnaround. I will post pics of the chair once I get it back- I can’t wait to finally get this done! Today I wanted to share this beautiful, custom bar area I helped a friend with. My friend contacted me early in the year to ask for help with a giant niche in the living room of their new home. She didn’t have a buffet/ hutch/cabinet to go in the space but thought it would be the perfect place to create a built in bar- perfect for entertaining. We discussed what she wanted- some storage, a wine fridge and the fact that this wall was a natural focal point- visible from the front entry. Of course, color and style were important factors. My cabinet guy came up with a sketch, I suggested some tweaks, and the finished result is stunning. Believe it or not, the wallpaper was the first element decided on and everything else came into focus after! My friend now has a beautiful and functional area that she and her family can enjoy for years to come.

>> Sunday Poll Day! << I’ve been wanting to reupholster this antique chair (1 of 3 that are in desperate need) ever since my parents passed it along to me 8 yrs ago. It belonged to my grandmother and I have so many memories of sitting in it since I was a child. It’s comfortable, it’s fairly large and I always thought it was pretty. But through the years the fabric became stained, is wearing through in some areas and honestly, the seat needs a new cushion ‘cause I’m starting ...to feel the springs. A month ago I was looking around my house assessing projects and decided the time had come- this old chair was finally getting reupholstered! ... And I’ve been in fabric Hell ever since I had a sample fabric I’d picked up about 5 years ago that I thought would be a great choice, and sadly, can’t find it ANYWHERE, which means it’s discontinued. in the last 4 weeks, I’ve probably looked at a THOUSAND fabrics online (no joke!) and ordered 25 samples. But here’s the thing about samples, they are very small- even when paying for them and it is really hard to discern how the bigger picture will be when laid out on your piece. However, the samples do help with showing the true color (never trust your computer screen!), weave and feel of the fabric. My second fav choice turned out to be the same print I selected for my powder room wallpaper- Tibetan Foo Dogs by Clarence House. My wallpaper is in the pale blue, but they have a fabric that is in a dark blue colorway and gorgeous! Unfortunately, the scale of the pattern is too large for my chair ( larger than the scale on the wallpaper) and won’t work! . So... after much deliberation, and ordering several of the sample fabrics in yard lengths to get a better idea, here are the three I’ve narrowed it down to- all with my favorite color- 1. Flora and fauna- a mix of botanical with leopards that looks traditional but the cats add a touch of whimsy. 2. Modern Animal- kind of a zebra print, but not. I like the boldness of the print and it’s unusual- which is cool. 3. Waves- which also kind of looks like clouds. And if you’ve been following my page, you know I like clouds! It’s also a bold print and feels playful. So, which one gets your vote??

Gin Treadwell HOME Interiors 09.07.2020

Well, what was supposed to be a fairly simple modification to this fireplace wall has turned into a major remodel. The plan was to add additional brick to the existing fireplace, extending brick all the way up to the ceiling and to the far right (creating a strong focal wall), and then whitewashing everything to soften the color. However, when the contractor’s team removed the mantle and started pulling some of the brick off to make adjustments, they discovered the brick had... not been properly adhered to the wall by the builder and the whole facade was in danger of crumbling down- super dangerous, especially in earthquake country! The drywall will need to be cut away and reinforced to sustain the weight of anything we put up. It’s an unexpected delay and will add to the project cost, but my clients are looking at it as an opportunity to put in something they would really like rather than making do with what was there. So, we’re saying goodbye to the brick and replacing it with a beautiful stacked stone. Meanwhile improvements are moving forward in other parts of the house... Check out the gorgeous floating shelves installed in these giant niches on the second floor landing! (Which means I get to have some fun shopping and styling them out!) Can’t remember the last time I was tasked to hang 80 PIECES OF ART... oh yeah, NEVER! But there’s a first time for everything right? LOL. It’s taken me 3 separate visits so far but most of the pieces are up and room by room, my client’s new home is coming together beautifully! With so much art, most of it it Disney and theatre related, I worked to create visual vignettes , keeping in mind color, theme and size. Some editing had to be done, so not all of the art is making it onto the walls, but what IS up makes an impactful impression. Take a look at how this Living Room came together!

Hello Hello! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far! I wanted to give an update on my laundry room makeover ... Truthfully, I thought I would be finished by now, but the reality is that painting my mountain and cloud mural is taking a good amount of time and I just haven’t had the time because projects I’m working on for other people has kept me busy! (Not complaining, but it’s a legit excuse! ). Anyway, the new flooring is in and looks great- check out my post f...rom 7/4 for more info on that, and we’ve ordered a new window (one that will open for fresh air- YAY!! ) that will be installed in September. In the meantime, I’m painting my little heart out every chance I get! It’s definitely a process and involves a lot of layering of paint and tweaking things as I go ‘cause #imaperfectionist! . If you’re curious, here’s a little mini I put together from my paint session yesterday (set to music no less- LOL)! Happy Sunday Friends :) See more
