Golden State German Shepherd Rescue 04.02.2021

Astrid wishes you a happy weekend! Astrid is still looking for that perfect fit. This 8 month old cuddlebug loves to play and go for walks. She does well with other dogs and would make a great younger playmate. Astrid is crate trained, loves to go for rides and plays fetch with her foster sisters and brothers. She is definitely a chewer and needs good strong toys. She wants to be beside her humans and will even come between your legs for attention. She is learning to ...live with cats, so she may do fine with a dog savvy cat. At this time she may not have the long endurance but we are working on building up her muscles. As she has been diagnosed with early hip dysplasia, we are seeking a qualified home for her, one that will continue exercising her to keep her muscles strong, and one that will give her what she needs. She would do well with an older adopter or family, who is looking for a great addition to take on long walks and hikes. Hip dysplasia is not a death sentence and can be managed, as long as you have your expectations set. Please apply on our website: gsgsrescue.org/adopt/form

This is a courtesy post: Meet Lola - a young female GSD who was found wandering in the fields around Modesto. The family who found her took her in, got her spayed and she is up to date on her shots. She is GREAT with people but needs to be an ONLY dog in the home. She is currently being fostered with 2 GSD's (1 female and 1 male) and it's not working out. Based on the interactions Lola must be moved to a home with no other dogs. Per her foster: "She's about 2 years old,... playful, and loyal. She loves her humans, not too big on other dogs it seems. She loves playing fetch. You can run around with her and play fetch with her all day, yet she also likes to snuggle with you on the couch or bed whenever. She's like the perfect mix of energy and calmness. She really is such a special dog and joy to be around" If you are interested in meeting Lola, please send us a DM, and we can put you in touch.

This is a courtesy post for the Humane Society of Sonoma County. These 2 bonded GSD's (male and female) Bunny and Hef! Read below for their description and contact the Humane Society (707-542-0882) if you are able to adopt 2 adult German Shepherds! Bunny and Hef are two super easy-going, gentle dogs. They are both heartworm positive, which we are currently treating and will continue to treat post-adoption at no cost to the adopters. And their adoption fees are sponsored, ...so these guys are free to the perfect home! They are incredibly nice dogs, and we truly don't know why they're still here with us...a bonded pair of large dogs can be intimidating, but these two are very easy keepers so we're hoping that a broader audience will help find them the perfect home. These two are a seriously sweet pair; Bunny is the yin to Heff's yang. Bunny is gentle, sensitive, and very mellow. She enjoys hanging out in the behavior office with a bully stick, soliciting pets between naps and sniffing. She's the perfect office companion. Hef is gregarious and goofy, and all about the cuddles. He's strikingly handsome, and has a very charismatic personality. His most charming trait, however, is his undying devotion to Bunny. He absolutely adores her and it's very obvious in the way he greets her and always makes sure to check in with her on walks. These two complement each other perfectly, and are very easy to care for. They've lovely to walk, not strong pullers, and don't become easily overwhelmed by their environment. As far as their adoptive home, we think they would thrive in an environment that would allow them a secure place to explore and wander once they've finished their HW treatments. No apartments or condos. A home with a sensible backyard and a few walks a day would work well. These guys are good with large dogs (not tested with smaller dogs at HSSC), good with kids of all sizes, and very friendly & outgoing with people. Overall they are truly wonderful dogs! Aside from their heartworm status, Bunny & Hef are healthy. They are altered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines. Both of them have a left ear tip, and we have no idea why! They arrived at the shelter that way and it remains a mystery, as they were both intact, but it doesn't seem to bother them one bit.

Update: Adoption pending! Coming soon: Sweet senior lady Roxie! Roxie was surrendered to the shelter after 7 years because they didn’t have time for her . We are learning more about her and she will be available soon. What we know so far: 7 years, overweight, typical older shepherd gait. Currently she is in a foster home with both large and small dogs. Roxie is very sweet and has done well with all people she has met.

This is a courtesy post for Humane Society North Bay in Vallejo. GSGSR has not evaluated this dog. If interested, please contact them directly - https://hsnb.org/ Chase is around 2 years and will need an experienced GSD handler and to be an ONLY DOG in the home and with no cats and no children. It is apparent that Chase had very little to no training prior to his being at the Humane Society. He was in a foster home who worked on him with his food/toy possession, and it ...took time. A new adopter will need to continually work with him in this area. He will need someone who is experienced in this area to help him learn new behaviors. He is very dog selective and seems to be okay with some and has leash reactivity with others. He is crate trained in the house, enjoys hanging with his people after a good play session and knows some basics, but overall needs to learn how to be a well mannered GSD. See more
