October is Girl Empowerment Month, dedicated to introducing girls in public schools across Los Angeles County to career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). We need more female voices in STEM! Women hold only 25 percent of all STEM occupations; Latinas and Black women hold only 1 percent and 3 percent of these jobs, respectively.
