Ever taken apart a grow light ballast? Here's what the inside of our ballasts look like for our CMH and HPS grow light fixtures. That black stuff is a silicone gel that fully seals and protects the internals of the ballast from heat and elements. Over time, ballast internals can get brittle from heat and extended use which leads to early failure. Our sealing process prevents this from happening.
