Johnny Uchida of Grove Way Bonsai has been active in bonsai since the 1950's and has been Sensei of Yamato Bonsai Kai since 1976. Please join Yamato for their first ever *virtual* bonsai exhibition. This marks the club's 49th annual exhibition, running since 1971!

Grove Way Bonsai Nursery will be closed this week due to safety concerns with the Covid-19 virus. Bonsai don't get coronavirus, but people do. Please be careful and stay healthy. #flattenthecurve

Starting this week, the nursery will be open for limited operations on Fridays and Saturdays 9am-5pm. For safety, customers are asked to cooperate with all announced health and safety requirements while shopping. Masks should be worn and social distancing should be practiced, there will also be hand washing stations provided. Thank you

Sensei Uchida's specimen satsuki azalea trees are in bloom right now putting on a show, and just in time, a delivery of 30+ satsuki azaleas has just arrived for sale in a variety of shapes and sizes and lots of colors! These new trees have been in training for many years, and some are even cascade or root over rock style which are hard to find. Come check it out!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Grove Way Bonsai Nursery will be closed Tuesday, December 25 for the Christmas holiday. The holiday sale and extended nursery hours will continue through December 24 for last-minute gift shopping.

About 7 years ago, I picked up this scruffy Juniper procumbens at Grove Way Bonsai Nursery Johnny and I joked that it looked like it had been through a fire,... but I wanted to see what I could do with it given its great, gnarly trunk. After a few years, it had put on some solid growth. I also wanted to be creative with my pot choices, so I found a nice urn like pot and aged it by breaking it up a bit, and transplanted it about 3 years ago. I restyled today, and feel I have finally captured what I had originally envisioned for the scruffy little tree years ago. See more

It's feeling like spring today at the nursery! The Shindeshojo Japanese maples are spectacular at this time of year with their brilliant red leaves!
