An email was sent out to our students. In case you missed it, please read the email below regarding emergency grants: Dear Student, We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.... Grossmont College believes in "Education for All" and in an effort to continue supporting your academic journey we are reaching out to let you know that undocumented students now qualify for CARES Act Emergency Grants and we want you to apply! While the U.S. Department of Education has determined that students must be eligible, or potentially eligible, for Title IV Financial Aid to be considered for CARES Act Emergency Grants, a federal court put a legal injunction on this guidance on June 17, 2020, and the injunction is still in place as of the date of this letter. This means that Grossmont College will consider all potentially eligible students for CARES Act Emergency Grants, including undocumented students. If you attended Grossmont College in Spring or Summer 2020 and were impacted by COVID-19 and the campus closure, please apply for a CARES Act Emergency Grant. The application process is very easy and usually takes no more than 10 minutes. Apply here. Emergency funds of up to $500 can be used for educational related expenses such as food, gas, housing, personal auto/public transportation, childcare, utilities, medical, computer equipment, etc. During these challenging times, as we all navigate uncertainty for ourselves and our loved ones, we want to reassure you that Grossmont College has always strived to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our undocumented students. We were the first college in the region to open a Dream Center Program and we continuously work to raise awareness of the issues and challenges that affect undocumented students in our college and community to ensure respect and appreciation of diversity, while promoting equal access to education. If you need assistance completing the application, please do not hesitate to reach out to your allies, which include the following staff members: Iliana Garcia Financial Aid Advisor [email protected] Josceline Torres Scholarship Specialist [email protected] In unity, Grossmont College Financial Aid & Scholarships Office https://grossmont.edu/financial/grants/emergency-grants.php
Hey everyone, it's Mel here! Wanted to give some birthday shouts to our very own DAVE MULLEN! Let's give him some birthday love! Photo credit: Adi Mullen
Real talk for college students: try not to use this time of distance education to take a break from dance. We need to keep our bodies in shape and ready so that when we come back to any type of face to face classes, sessions, etc that we are on it. You also have Pass/No Pass options for those who may want to sign up for a class but don’t want a grade and the commitment required for a grade. Swipe left for more info on how to do this!
