The City of Colusa City Council recently voted 5-0 to enter into a 14 month escrow in order to purchase the former Pirelli Cable property. This officially puts the cities grant writers on the clock to secure the grant funding for the purchase. As I have said on the record, I believe this project is only viable through grant funding, and that the tax payers of the city should not be on the hook financially for this endeavor. I'll keep you all updated on the progress.

Your thoughts?... Ordinance 519 of the City of Colusa relates to cannibis manufacturing, processing, cultivation and most all other cannibis related activities. Due to the ever changing state laws, we are in the process of updating that ordinance. Part of the existing ordinance prohibits store front dispensaries, a position that I strongly supported when 519 was ratified. As we update this ordinance, the question of store front dispensaries will once again be in front of the... council. I would welcome your input on this issue, and will make myself available at any time to discuss it in order to carry your voices to the dais. Keep in mind, this is not a discussion on the benefits or evils of cannibis, rather the idea of allowing a strore front dispensary within our city limits. FINANCIAL UPDATE The city of colusa mandated unto itself a few years ago that we must hold in general fund reserves an amount not less that 50% of its annual expenses. As of our recent annual mid year budget review, at about 2.6 million dollars, we are safely above that threshold. Seperate from that fund, the council also mandated that all Cannibis revenue be held in a separate accounting fund, to be disbursed only through direct council action to ensure transparency. Happi...ly, I can report that the cannibis fund is fast approaching 1 million dollars. Although that has transpired slower than hoped for, those businesses are now beginning to show positive results. With those funds, the council is awaiting a proposal to allocate funds for a streets study and subsequent infrastructure improvements. I'm holpeful that the citezens of Colusa will soon reap the rewards for the sacrifices we have endured entering into this new world of cannibis.
