The National Guard recognizes today as its birthday. On this day in 1636, the first militia regiments were organized to defend Massachusetts Bay. These regiments would eventually become the National Guard, responding when disaster strikes at home and when needed around the world. We appreciate all men and women who serve in the Army and Air National Guards and are always ready to take the call. #NationalGuard
