Estate Planning Tip of the Week: Electronic Copies of Documents This week we received a few requests to send clients their completed Estate Planning documents via electronic communication. Tip: Once an Estate Plan has been created, the client will receive a hard copy of their documents. Upon request, we will also scan the completed documents and send them to our client via email or by upload to a secure server, depending on the client’s preference. Having electronic copies of... documents is especially important as banks or other companies may request specific documents to be sent as PDFs via email. By having a complete set of electronic documents, the client gains the ability to work with different entities and to electronically send documents as needed. Estate Planning Tip of the Week: Funding a Trust This week we received some questions about how to place assets into a Trust. This is known as funding. Here is what you should consider when working with your bank. Tip: When you create your Trust, you will have an asset schedule which lists out everything you want the Trust to own, including bank accounts. Once your Trust has been completed, you need to take your Estate Planning portfolio to a representative at your bank. Some... banks only require your Trust documents to execute a change of ownership, while other banks may require you to complete an additional form they provide. Upon completing these steps, the bank will change ownership of your bank account from you to your Trust. Your bank account is now funded into your Trust! #internationalwomensday2021 At my business networking event this month, we discussed who was the most influential woman in your life. With women being half the population, there are so many of you to choose from. However, two people immediately popped into my head. It is my mother, Lola Greene, who took care of me and encouraged me in school and made me who I am today. She still is a big support system for me and I am glad that I get to honor her on #internationalwomens...day2021. The second person that popped up in my head was Judge Katrina Ross. Starting out as a "young" attorney is scary, especially when it involves running your own business. So many attorneys have changed my life for the better because they are givers. Judge Ross was always a giver in encouragement and I greatly expanded my knowledge of the law while serving in her court. Her ability to have faith in me allowed me to pursue my passion for helping others which I do as an attorney. I am proud to honor both Judge Ross and my mom. On #internationalwomensday2021. I celebrate all the great women past and present in my life. I look forward to the new great women I will meet in my future.
