We are so excited to announce that we are opening Instill Christian Academy, an afterschool program for elementary students! Helping a child develop a healthy, biblical worldview and be equipped with strong skills and Christ-like character has been our deepest passion ever since the start of Great Oaks. We are so happy that we can now share the same passion with elementary students. The new program will be offered in a home environment, similar to Great Oaks, in Cypress Village. We will start out with a full-day summer program in July and August and will offer part-time after school options once the public school year begins. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. We would love to speak to you more in detail!

Veritas Press, a leading resource company on classical Christian education, is now offering a 60-day free trial on their online curriculum. I think this is such a great opportunity for you to try out this quality Bible-based education and see if this is a good fit for your child and family. I am super convinced with their approach and philosophy and want to see how the curriculum really works in each home, especially for elementary students. It would be awesome if you could give me a brief feedback after trying it out with your school-age children!

The unstructured free time that your child is getting now with you at home is exactly what he or she needs! Don’t ever feel pressured to home school and provide a list of activities for his or her day. You are doing good to your child by letting him or her play freely at home! Btw, boredom encourages children to rest their mind and to become creative, so when you hear I’m bored, tell your child That’s awesome.

Here is the link to a helpful article from Gospel Coalition on how to talk to children about Covid-19 with a biblical perspective. Hope you find this helpful. May the truth set all of us free as we face new challenges! https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/ar/children-coronavirus/

It’s been awhile since we made our last posting. Much happened during the past few months and we are so grateful for all that we have been through as a community. The most recent change, the biggest change indeed once the open of the school, was moving our younger class to a new location. Throughout the whole process, we were constantly reminded of the truth that He is in control. All we could offer him was to submit ourselves, follow his lead and do what He asked us to do day by day We are more than excited to announce that the move is done and the classroom is ready to roll for tomorrow! We thank our supportive parents for their prayers, care and understanding. Thank you, Jesus, for everything. Please come and reign in this place. #go2relocationproject #allyoursJesus

We went fishing for some zoo letters in a lake! After fishing a letter, they were told to match it to the corresponding letter on the alphabet tray. I love how these simple games bring a new excitement and motivation to what’s already been discussed and respect each child to learn at his or her own pace! #earlyliteracyfun #greatoakschristian

Couple days ago, we made an ocean habitat in a bowl with some sand, shells, sea glass pieces, toy sea creatures and water. The habitat was left in a freezer and the creatures all got trapped in the frozen ocean. Today the children got their hands busy rescuing the creatures with some helpful resources- salt, water, golf tees and hammers!

Happy Easter! Last week, we spent much time together talking about the true meaning of Easter- the cross and the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus. The children got to engage in various related activities and celebrate the season together! #Easter2019 #greatoakschristian

A warm spring day calls for some spray painting on canvas outside! Inspired by the colors we explored, we baked some rainbow spiral cookies at Cooking Class!
