Dear Parents, In response to yesterday’s order from California’s government, as well as City and County of Los Angeles, to shut down all non-essential businesses, we are revising our plans. We will NOT re-open on March 28th, as previously planned. At this time, we are planning to re-open on April 20th, 2020. We are working on an updated calendar, but it may take us a bit. Rest assured, we will work out your schedules, make-ups, etc. From Stan: We promise that everyone that... is staying enrolled with us through this crisis will receive their make-up classes, even if I have to personally teach your child one on one to keep that promise. We will NOT bill anyone for the month of April. All further billing is delayed, and all prior make-ups, including those accumulated in March, will be available once we re-open. We are able to do this due to greatly reduced expenses due to the shutdown, and in no small part, thanks to our wonderful landlords, who are sympathetic to our financial problems during this crisis. We are therefore able to extend the same relief to you, our loyal clients. For clients on our grandfathered-in rates, your rate will NOT change, as long as you’ve made your March 2020 payment, and will resume your regular payments in May 2020. If you are on automatic payments with us, your payment has been suspended for the month of April. You will NOT be billed. If, for some reason, you are billed in error, please DO NOT DISPUTE the charge please contact us, and we’ll reverse it. Thank you for your support and your understanding during these unprecedented and difficult times.

Great Minds Robotics VEX IQ teams 10700B "GMR" and 10700G "Soda Pops" won 1st Place Teamwork Championship awards at the Silicon Valley Signature Robotics Tournament earlier today. Not only did our teams scored the highest score in the finals, they did it in style - check out the victory dance in the last 10 seconds of the match! Team 10700B "GMR" also won 1st Place Robot Skills Champion award, and Team 10700G "Soda Pops" won the Inspire award. A great performance overall, and a fun event in California's Great America amusement park - thank you, event organizers and volunteers! #vexiq #svsrt #signatureevent #robots

Great Minds Robotics VEX IQ teams 10700B "GMR" and 10700G "Soda Pops" just got back from the Kalahari Classic Signature event. This was the first game of the season for team 10700B "GMR"; they opened their season with an Excellence award - a World Championship Qualifier - as well as 1st Place Robot Skills Champion award. Although "GMR" had a significant point lead throughout the entire event, they were Finalists in Teamwork matches... hats off to team 2956X "Cerulean Blue" - ...well played, love the Sun Tzu strategy. We'll see you at VEX Worlds! Shout-out to our 1st Alliance partners 16868A Piethon" - awesome robots, keep on practicing with them! Team 10700G "Soda Pops" did quite well for a rookie team, and came in 3rd Alliance into the finals. They also placed 3rd in Robot Skills. While they didn't bring back any awards this time, we're very proud of this team's performance, and they are already hard at work getting ready for the California State Championship. Last, but certainly not least, a huge Thank You to the Kalahari Classic event organizers and volunteers - we've been involved in VEX IQ since the competition started, and this is, hands-down, one of the best-run events. It's our 2nd year at the Kalahari Classic, and we'll be back again in 2021. #recfoundation #omgrobots #vexworlds #SignatureEvent #KalahariClassic See more

Great Minds Robotics WRO teams "Memory Leak" (Regular Sr Division), "The Bright Badgers" (Regular Jr Division), and "WROBots" (Regular Jr Division) attended US National Championship, hosted by Juniper Networks, in Sunnyvale, California, on September 15th. Teams "Memory Leak" and "The Bright Badgers" won 1st Place Champion awards in their respective divisions, and have been invited to attend the World Championship as part of Team USA in Gyr, Hungary (November 2019). Please c...ongratulate our National Champions! Team "WROBots" wrapped up the season with 8th place in their division. This season has been a tremendous learning experience for this team, and they're looking forward to new and exciting challenges as they continue on their learning path of robotics and programming. Please congratulate "WROBots" on their efforts, dedication, and teamwork. Back to our Champions - we are extremely proud of both "Memory Leak" and "The Bright Badgers" - not only did they win 1st place in their divisions, they did so in style! "The Bright Badgers" posted the only perfect score in their division, with 40 seconds to spare in a 2-minute game - a world-class performance! "Memory Leak" had a simple, yet effective robot, which they won a Design Award for, in addition to the 1st place in their division - definitely stylin'! A heartfelt Thank You is in order to WRO event organizers and partners for yet another great event. A treat this season was allowance of open language in the Junior division. Our teams decided to program their robots in C++, learning a language used by professionals in the real world. This transferable knowledge that students gain from the WRO competition is absolutely invaluable, and makes all the time and effort put into team meetings a very worthwhile investment, regardless of awards and placements. We hope more teams get involved in this awesome competition, and more teams will gradually transfer from the EV3-G graphical language (a great starting point) to professional programming languages, such as C++, to maximize the learning value of each WRO season the team participates in. Last, but not least, "Memory Leak" took a very innovative approach to the game - they built a WRO Simulator program (in C#) for the Senior Challenge, which allows them to vizualize their strategies in a virtual simulation, and generate C++ code that runs on the robot (this is harder to do than it sounds). The WRO Program Director for USA, Alex Crooks, took notice of their amazing work, and interviewed our team - here's a link to the interview, it's quite interesting: https://tinyurl.com/MemoryLeakInterview Congratulations, all GMR WRO teams! Great work, fabulous results! See more
