Applause is in order! A Greater Hope's Program Manager Elizabeth Curtis has been selected as a member of the Adoption Steering Committee for the California Alliance of Child and Family Services. The Adoption Steering Committee is made up of approximately 15 people from Alliance Member organizations representing differing adoption programs: in size, in location (Northern, Central and Southern California, rural and urban, small county/large county), in diversity of staff and clients served, and in program content. Congratulations, Elizabeth on this great accomplishment! Your dedication and leadership makes a profound difference in the lives of children and families in need. The Greater Hope Team didn't let the #pandemic ruin our annual Halloween staff celebration. We gathered on Zoom, shared our fall family traditions and ended with a costume contest! Will the lion, the Dalmatian, the fox, the African Princess or one or our other team members win?

Sadness is not a bad emotion. It's a healthy expression of disappointment and hurt. For some, sadness can evolve into depression. Depression can be identified as wanting to isolate and not engage with others. Or no longer enjoying activities you once enjoyed. You may experience insomnia or sleeping too much. These are just a few symptoms and it's important to seek help if these symptoms persist for two weeks. Remember that sadness is a healthy emotion and it may come and go, but if symptoms become worse behavioral health services can help. Visit https://aghope.org/en/bhs to learn how you can get help.
This #AGHSpotlight we are celebrating Tierra, one of our foster care social workers. As a Clinical Social Worker, Tierra works primarily with children and families, providing support services through case management, crisis management and community resources. As a social worker, I get to be a part of something amazing, Tierra stated. [I am part of] a village of individuals that share a similar passion as I do. I love working with the families because, in a way, you become a family as you build that rapport. I love seeing the growth in the children and knowing that I was a part of that. Thank you Tierra for everything you do for our families. Read more of Tierra's spotlight, by clicking on the photo below.
Happy National Art Day! Did you know that art stimulates the imagination, can make you more observant, boosts self esteem and reduces stress? As Gerhard Richter explains, Art is the highest form of hope. Take out the paint brushes, grab your craft supplies and create something fun today!

The chill of crisp evening air, the scattering of crunchy leaves across the earth and the smell of cinnamon-flavored baked goods wafting through the house. #Autumn is here! We hope you are admiring the changing season with your family as the cool weather begins! #fallvibes #weekendvibes
