Hold the Presses! Our Great Books Curriculum has just been awarded a 2nd Apgar Foundation grant. This time it's $22,000.00 to be used primarily for a fall 2012 student essay competition that will be extended to include local high school seniors. The primary reading is Plato's "Crito": What it means to live the Good Life (righteous life) as opposed to the material life.
Join SBCC in welcoming Former New York Times writer and Local Author Barbara Greenleaf for a special book signing & gourmet luncheon. Ms. Greenleaf will be signing copies of, and reading from, her latest novel, Good-to-Go Café, the second in her series targeting business-minded teens.... Set primarily at SBCC’s School of Culinary Arts & Hotel Management, Good-to-Go Café follows a half-Jewish/half-Hispanic teenager as he tries to find himself and success as a chef. Look for a cameo appearance in the book by Culinary Arts Director Randy Bublitz as Chef Marc. When: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 -11:00 a.m.- Book signing 12:00 noon- Buffet Luncheon Where: SBCC Bookstore & John Dunn Gourmet Dining Room Cost:$14.95 (not including cost of book) RSVP to:Elizabeth Smith (805) 965-0581 x 2773
