If you are not hip to Nakedwines.com get hip immediately! I am SO excited about this company. As many of you know, I was (extremely happily) in the wine business for a decade. I fought to change the industry and made some very small strides. But I was far too early. Naked Wines is cracking the code and it's one of the only sources I purchase from today. If you want to check it out, here's a link to $100 off your first case https://us.nakedwines.com/invite/gina-delvecchio.htm - yes, I get $40 bucks on my account for your participation but whatever, I'm up for you getting a great deal ... go direct if you like! https://us.nakedwines.com/invite/gina-delvecchio.htm

Welcome to 2013! It's going to be a great year. Kicking it off with a bottle of Cristal vintage 2005. Let's hear more about this very special wine from International Wine Cellar's, Josh Raynolds (November 2012): 94 Points "Bright yellow-gold. Heady floral-accented citrus and orchard fruits on the nose, with smoky mineral and floral overtones adding complexity. Velvety and chewy in texture, offering deep, juicy orange and poached pear flavors and suave honey and chamomile nuances. Blends precision with power, finishing with a distinct mineral quality and excellent persistence."

After opening a corked bottle of Pinot Noir last night (not this same label) we're happy to see the modern glass stopper that Calera is using. These (reusable) stoppers are a bit more expensive for the producers by the unit but, considering that a producer can end up with 7-10% of all units corked as a result of natural corks, the economics support transition to the glass stopper. Good business decision, Calera!
