In case you have been missing GHHS Choir as much as I have, here's a video made by our fabulous drama teacher, Ms. Giard.
Missing the choir concerts this year. You know this is totally me!
Found a very old photo of me from 2004... teaching in Arizona, at a music competition for our Madrigal Choir. Did you know your choir teacher ever looked like this?
Man this is phenomenal https://www.facebook.com/postmodernjukebox/videos/689062005255782/
Sometimes you realize that you are blessed. I asked my students for some feedback and here are some quotes that really meant a lot to me: "being a part of choir is like being at home." "choir as a class in school and in quarantine was a place where i could relax and not have to guard myself from others or slipping up hard and getting in trouble over something as little as a harmless joke just because someone didn't take it as intended."... "One of the only things that made me genuinely want to get up every day was choir. I knew that for that small period of my day, I'd be doing something I enjoyed. I'd feel like I'm connected to the world, and in those moments, I'd feel okay. And nothing in the world can compare to how I feel during performances. Looking at Mrs. Nadeau and watching her cue us in, and watching her experience what we've all come together to create. She looks at everyone and signals that it will be okay, to breathe, and to smile. I feel important in those moments. I feel proud of myself in those moments. And most of all, I feel real in those moments. I don't have to think about my mental state. I don't have to think about whatever I was worried about before I got on stage. All I think about is creating music, and enjoying what I'm doing. Choir has given me an outlet to keep going, and I don't want to lose that." #SOARtogether
I love my kiddos so much. They had some very wonderful things to say about their experiences in choir at Granite. "I grew up around music, it kind of rules my life. as someone who grew up dancing and performing, music has been one of the most important aspects of my life. whether it be making, listening to, singing to, or dancing to music, it always comforts me. being a part of choir is like being at home. it's a safe and welcoming place in which you don't have to feel pressured or insecure because your choir family is always there to support you. just walking into the choir room is like a sigh of relief. i think not being able to go there and just escape is part of the reason this distance learning is so difficult. i wouldn't be able to make it through the day if it weren't for choir." #SOARtogether
We will be holding a virtual awards banquet. Get your snacks, and dress up to attend our zoom meeting this Saturday 5/16 at 6pm. Info below. We hope you can join us.
The class of 2020 is getting ready to graduate i na time of extreme uncertainty. It will take bravery and dignity, but we know you can do it. The advanced choir seniors are getting ready for a graduation ceremony, where they would normally sing the National Anthem, so here is our virtual Anthem for the upcoming graduation. https://www.wevideo.com/view/1697955428 #SOARtogether
