Hello! We’re so happy to have you back! If you’ve been into the gym since we reopened on March 19th, then you know that we are following CA State and Sacramento County guidelines as well as taking some additional precautions to reduce the spread of Covid-19. Aside from countless hours of behind the scenes work, we have made these operational changes: * Requiring everyone in the facility to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth * Limiting the number of people allowed... in the gym at one time * Screening everyone that enters the facility for COVID symptoms and contact with people who have COVID * Screening all staff for COVID symptoms, contact with people who have COVID, and taking their temperature before every shift * Having everyone sanitize their hands before entering the facility * Creating zones and floor markings for physical distancing *limiting the number of people allowed in smaller areas such has at the hangboards *setting routes farther apart from one another * Posting signage to encourage proper hygiene * Placing hand sanitizer around the gym for use between climbs and asking climbers to do so throughout their climbing session * Checking all climbers/visitors in AND out to aid in contact tracing if we were to need to do so * Disinfecting high contact surfaces every other hour * Sanitizing all pens used at the front counter after each use * Not renting out chalk bags and sanitizing other rental gear between each use *Not allowing self serve food * Limiting climbing time to two hours to reduce prolonged contact with others And *running our team program outside as much as possible Thanks for watching and we hope to see you soon! #InsideVoices Thank you Matteo D. from the band Hotplug for the tunes!

We’re still here! Even with the concerns our mandated 10% capacity cap is causing us, this week has been a celebration of just sticking around even after our hardest year in 24 years of business. We are incredibly grateful for those of you who were able to keep your memberships active in any capacity during our closures and are thankful to everyone who has renewed their memberships, used their punch cards, and even come in and bought a session pass. You are all the reason we can keep sticking around. Thank you!

We are so thankful to have our counter staff back! Our staff are like family to us and having them back in the gym with all of you is what makes the gym feel like home. Not pictured are also our maintenance workers, facility manager, and owners who’s tireless work has kept us open, our gym clean, and our personal protective equipment (like harnesses) in check. Our staff is made up of an incredible group of people who are fun-loving, responsible, kind people who love climbing. They have been working so hard to adapt to all of our new covid-protocols and have been amazingly flexible and positive in the face of so many constant changes. Their thoughtful feedback has also helped us figure out what the best policies are for both us and you. They are truly the best of the best. We are so grateful for you all!

We feel that our gym is an important part of the local climbing community and that climbing is an amazing outlet to destress and connect with yourselves and others, but we wanted to know what you thought. We asked 25 of our members what they think about when they think of climbing and Granite Arch and how the gym and climbing in general have effected their lives. #InsideVoices

Introducing #InsideVoices, a movement to save our indoor climbing spaces. What does the future of Indoor Climbing look like? With the pandemic surging forward, many gym owners are faced with this question and what it means for their business. Over the next month and a half we will be sharing with you what the pandemic has been like for us, why climbing and this gym is so important to us, and what steps we are taking to reduce the spread of Covid-19.... If you have a story to share about your own experience with climbing and/or the GA community you can share by using #InsideVoices , tagging us in posts, dm-ing us, or emailing us. We are so thankful to have had this community on this long journey and can’t wait to hear from you all.

Woah! You though we were done with staff highlights?! Well we aren’t quite done yet. Everyone say hi to Nate! He said this about himself: Yeah sure! Aside from climbing I love to surf, backpack, read a good book, and make sick mods to my 4runner. I love U.S. history, and my favorite president is Teddy Roosevelt because he made National Forests a thing and was an all around Chad.

We love our members, including their furry friends! It’s been a bummer to not have the pups around but hopefully they can come back in when their people can! This is Sherlock! She’s an excellent gym pup who’s always stoked for some scritches!

Hey! Look at one of our Rec Team kids send! We have been super lucky to have an outdoor wall for our Rec and Comp Team kids to practice on. It’s also been a great way to maintain some of our community while our indoor operations have to stay closed.

Granite Arch Climbing Center 26.11.2020

Outdoor Practices will be wrapping up next week for a little while, but we are so stoked that we’ve been able to keep our Teams climbing as much as we can. After our practices wrap up we are sure our Team kids and a lot of you will be headed to climb outside. To help you #recreateresponsibly we are sharing some resources in our story and even an @accessfund pledge you can take to commit to respecting our climbing areas and communities from this winter season on. The stories will be saved in our Resources highlight. Check them out and have a Happy Holidays!

The indoor climbing industry has continued to advocate for safe and cautious operations from the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis. With repeated and extended cl...osures since the pandemic began, many gyms, and the communities they foster, are on the verge of closing for good. Gyms in California and Washington have created their own coalitions to take education and science to their state policymakers. If you live in either state or want to help the climbing industry at large, please visit these coalitions to learn more and consider writing a letter or signing their petition https://www.wiccoalition.org/ https://ciccoalition.org/ See more

Hello everyone! We so appreciate the support you have shown us so far. We, just like all other CA climbing centers, are working hard every day to keep our climbing center a clean, physically distanced, and fun place to be. Tomorrow California Public Health Officials will be shown that as well. If you could take thirty seconds to send this comment: ... I understand you will be meeting with the CICC on Thursday to discuss specific opening guidelines for the indoor climbing industry. This is my support of their argument. Thank you. at this link: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Pages/contact_us.aspx It would help show those officials the support we have and how much our gym being open matters to all of you. You can add any personal touches you like as well. Thank you so much! -Your GA Family

Granite Arch needs your help! We, along with 20+ other climbing centers, have formed the California Indoor Climbing Coalition (CICC). We are now asking for our members and community to help us TAKE ACTION by telling policymakers that we can operate successfully considering preventative measures in place and advice from public health officials. Here's what you can do:... Visit or website or CICCoalition.org and click "Take Action" (link in profile) Fill out the sample email to Gov. + State Public Health Send the email and your tiny effort may have a giant impact! Whether you're a parent, teacher, medical professional, grocery store employee, student, barista, waiter/waitress... there is something we all have in common: WE ARE CLIMBERS. The climbing community has been strong and resilient as we continue to combat the hardest threat to hit our industry. We appreciate you and your continuous support! See more

Hey everyone! Granite Arch has been collaborating with other CA climbing centers to work with science to keep our businesses open and viable. Our industry is at risk of shuttering this holiday season and so we need your help to keep us going! You can help by doing some of the things listed above to make sure the State does not classify us as Family Entertainment Centers instead of the climbing facilities we are, and to keep running in some capacity even if we are to move b...ack down a tier. We can’t keep opening and closing. Click Link Below for Full Instructions: https://granitearch.com/re-opening-memb/cocc-appeal-letter/ Thank you so much for your continued support!

We’ve been stoked to have you all back! Especially because you’ve been doing such a super job about wearing your masks and sanitizing your hands! Remember though, to make sure your hands are completely dry after using sanitizer before handling soft goods like harnesses and ropes!
