"In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Traumatic Transformations with Gunjani Patel : Ep. 15: How Gratitude Can Heal Physical Ailments & Increase Your Emotional Vibration with Jennifer Garman

Gunjani Patel, Psychotherapist, Life Coach, Podcast Host 30.11.2020

Suffering and pain is when something goes against our expectations. One of the lessons that I have learned in the past few years is the less expectations I have the less I tend to get disappointed. When we are met with pain, what do we do? How do we deal with it and how we see it? Do you judge, repress, deny, ignore your pain or do you learn, work towards healing, associate with people who have dealt with similar things, seek help and turn to people who empathize with you and... are open to be inspired? Not addressing your emotions only makes them stronger and they compound with time to get your attention. If 2020 hasn’t been your year, what are you doing differently for 2021 to be? What mindset are you going into 2021? I have learned that moving to a different state, being in a different relationship, changing set of people I was surrounded with only repeated the patterns and themes I was running away from because I stayed the same. When I brought change from within and healed my patterns, mindset, themes, environment, things around me changed. How will you not just survive but thrive in 2021? Have you joined my community yet? Follow me IG @gpatelcounseling for more on trauma, healing, mental wellness and thriving through trauma or sign up on my blog: (Link in bio) and join my community of people looking to be inspired, hopeful, and are looking to heal and empower others to thrive. #selflove #traumatictransformations #traumahealing #breakthestigma4nima #makingmentalhealthnormal #seekhelp #lifecoachforwomen #lifecoachingtips #createyourlife #buddhaandthebadass #gpatelcounseling #traumarecovery #traumahealing #selflovery #mensmentalhealth #loveyourself #selfacceptancejourney #assertiveness #choosingjoy #peacefulplace #peacefulmindpeacefullife #ptsdawareness #ptsdrecovery #ptsdsurvivor #learnnewskills #therapylife #growthmindset #selflovethread #youfirst #traumainformed

When you feel a bit "stuck" in a negative mindset, or simply desire to live the slightest "happier" life - I have a suggestion for you. It's something I learned from Abraham Hicks in the book Ask and It Is Given, and it's a scale of our feelings and emotions, in sequence from our highest vibrational feelings to our lowest. It is broken down into 22 of the most common emotions and known as the Emotional Guidance Scale. (Swipe Left) Did you know: Love, Joy, and Gratefulness a...re the highest vibrating emotions? E-motions are energy in motion. Enlightenment has the highest frequency 700+, but we don't all need to be enlightened to find the utmost peace and harmony. Simply notice where you are at and work to move upwards. Cassandra Sturdy*; "Your ‘vibration’ is a fancy way of describing your overall state of being. Everything in the universe is made up of energy vibrating at different frequencies. Even things that look solid are made up of vibrational energy fields at the quantum level. This includes you." So, if you would like to raise your vibrational frequency here are a few tips: Use emotional guidance scale (swipe left) to raise your vibration Nurture positive, kind, and inspiring thoughts Create your environment wisely: surround yourself with positive people, books, places, things. Connect with nature and ground and heal every day, by taking a walk, spending time with plants Use music to your advantage Go for a run or meditate or journal Practice gratitude for the things you have instead of focusing on lack Use essential oils and diffusers, candles or smells that are soothing Practice love and kindness towards yourself Consume non processed food and real nutrition, and keep your body hydrated We attract what we are and how we vibrate not what we want. Tune in to #traumatictransformations podcast to listen learn how to redesign your subconscious mind to heal. (Rewiring your brain to live the best version of yourself). Link in my bio. Trauma work is an intense process not going to lie but if we don’t address or acknowledge it, it can leave deep scarring wounds that tend to dig deeper and starts affecting our bodies, , mind and spirit. More often than not I have seen it compound with time the longer we stall with it, the more it seeps into our subconscious and starts affecting other areas of lives that we can’t control. Not everything is traumatizing and most of the time we are resilient and are able to g...et through things. But ask yourself are there certain things that happened in your life still causing you emotional distress or a sting when you talk about it? Do you find yourself triggered with gut wrenching feelings when certain topics, people or things? Then it’s unresolved and you might want to start working on it so you can live a healthy, stable and fit life. Whether you chose to seek therapy for it or look into other avenues of self healing such as energy work, breath work, subconscious reprogramming, acupuncture, dietary changes, chakra healing, reiki and many other ancient holistic wellness approaches the choice is yours. But the process more or less goes in these steps listed above. If you don’t come to a place of reprogramming your traumatic experiences where it loses all its emotional energy and charge and make peace with it by letting go and forgiving yourself for knowing what you didn’t know and others for it you keep that wound open. Which can easily be triggered again. I know letting go, making peace, forgiving and self love aren’t that easily achieved but if you don’t work towards it are you allowing yourself to tap into higher states of consciousness and living your best life? Because it is possible to completely heal and thrive because of it. Happy Sunday! What would life be like if you knew that you were so valuable and powerful and absolutely deserving of every chance in the world to pursue what filled you with passion, excitement and enthusiasm? What would life look like for you if that happened? Take a journal and write that down. When we write things down we allow ourselves to make that into a reality and become more concrete about what that looks like. I hear people who feel stuck often stay I feel stuck a...nd wish had a better life and felt more at bliss and had a prosperous life. I have them start by writing their vision of life by asking them a Miracle Question What would their life look like if there were no inhibitions? We often have limiting beliefs that keeps us from living our best life. Once you write down your miracle question’s answer. Ask yourself what are my limiting beliefs and patters that holds me back? But this should be a good start on how you absolutely can pursue your purpose and passion and don’t have to keep reliving the same patterns and beliefs that are holding you back. Have a blessed day, sending you all lots of love and light It doesn’t just happen overnight and there is a whole process to it. Leave me a comment if you would like to know more details and I can create a FREE workbook around it. Being hard on ourselves and more judgmental with ourselves only keeps us more in the negative loop and grows the neural networks that are not adaptive for our psychological well-being. Instead .. allow yourself to make mistakes and learn from them and if you make them again that’s ok too, learn more so you get to a point where you become better for them. Perfection is an illusion we create in our minds. When we get there the line gets pushed and the boundary gets extended. ...Instead learning that there is no such thing as perfect and you are doing the best you can at that given time can be so healing, it takes the edge and the pressure off. Leave me a comment or a . Have a blessed weekend. When we go through trauma in our lives they leave a scar - but the difference between people who are resilient/ people who go through post traumatic growth that are thriving and those that live as victims to their trauma is the way we process it. Being a trauma and EMDR specialist and having worked with people from all walks of life that have gone through some very deep dark things I find that when one has worked through their trauma and let me be clear that the work they di...d wasn’t easy. But once processed, with the help of a trauma informed professional they DO NOT FORGET THAT IT HAPPENED BUT GET TO A PLACE WHERE IT LOSES ALL ITS CHARGE AND FEEL LIBERATED. Once processed they lose all the charge associated with it and make peace with it. They are then able to forgive themselves and others. Because holding on to al that pain only weighs you down. There is a huge difference between working through something, making peace with it and thriving vs just existing, forgetting about something and surviving it. Traumatic events are not just in your mind, it’s important to recognize that your brain, body, mind and spirit holds on to those experiences, energies, negative thought patterns and behaviors. We carry the perceptions of the circumstances during our traumatic experiences in our body which exhibits itself as tightness in your chest, heart, shoulder, stomach, neck are the common areas I normally hear. Our stuck energies in our chakras can wreck havoc in pituitary and adrenal ...systems. The stuck energies/messages sends cortisol (stress hormone) to the hippocampus which is the storage and the learning area of the brain which shrinks over time in people with PTSD or people with triggered and unmanaged stress responses over time. It exhibits itself as brain fogginess and not being able to focus or learn and retain new information. It’s a much more complex process so it’s important to understand the depth of Mind, Brain, Body and Spirit connection. Different healing modalities work for different people. Just like trauma is in the eye of the beholder, healing also is a very personal journey. Becoming mindful of what you need and trying different things to get to a place of recovery is the key. (stay tuned for different healing modalities out there) Follow me @gpatelcounseling for more on healing, recovery and transformation after trauma. Recovery and healing from traumatic events in our life is a life long journey. But through my own work and now helping my patients doing trauma work for over 12+ years I find that, the first step to healing starts with noticing where you are holding on to all that stuck energy in your BODY. Trauma is a very multifaceted concept that affects our Brain, Body, Mind and Spirit so healing and recovery has to be a very holistic approach. There is a reason why you just can’t think ...you are over something and expect yourself to be just over it! Our body, brain and mind are connected. Trauma doesn’t have a language but the things we feel and sense in our body through smell, touch, vision, hearing at the time of trauma stays stuck and no matter how much we think we are over it and we should be fine and get over things from 5-6 years ago, we just can’t seem to till we seek professional help or other adaptive ways to cope and process through it. There is a reason why 2/3rd of PCP end emergency room visits are psychosomatic issues that are related to triggered stress responses that are unmanaged that exhibits themselves as compromised immunity, headaches, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases like MS, Fibromyalgia, Lyme, Lupus, Crohn’s etc, Asthma, high blood pressure, strokes, chronic fatigue, Obesity to name a few. Next time you judge someone could this be a gentle nudge that someone’s unresolved trauma or unmanaged stress overtime might be catching up with them so be kind to them or don’t say anything at all? Epigenetics & Intergenerational Trauma - such a fascinating subject and more important to me now more than ever because I am a mother and I feel responsible to leave for my child and his friends a better world. I believe that just like we can pass on genes carrying trauma to our future generations we can also pass on healing. Genes are not fixed, life events can trigger biochemical messages that can turn on a process called Methylation which makes it more or less prone to me...ssages from the body. Methylation process can be passed on to our offsprings. @bessel_van So the body, brain and mind connection is very crucial to healing. More on that in the next post. Studies show that stressful experiences affect gene expressions in humans and thus the way we manage stress and use adaptive skills to trigger our parasympathetic nervous system which is the relaxation response part of our brain is important. It’s important that we model expression of emotions good or bad (happy, sad, angry and everything in between) so our children can learn what they mean and how to manage them by having secure healthy attachments. We can teach ourselves adaptive coping skills to be better human beings and role model them to our offsprings. Eg of that would be : if you find yourself getting very angry and can’t control it and later regret, becoming aware that it happens and you can’t control it but then identify it to people you got angry at, apologize, journal about it, learn creative visualization to change that behaviors overtime and build new neural networks and start working on desired behavior instead when angry for next time. Trauma is defined as an event or a life change that’s deeply distressing or disturbing. Combat, natural disasters, death of a loved one, sexual trauma, violent crimes are not the only things that can be traumatic. Other things such as car accidents, bullying, terminal illness, aging, infidelity, IVFtreatments, sudden death of a loved one close to you, childhood abuse and abandonment, #breakups, domestic violence, being a new mom and struggling can be just as traumatic. So b...eing informed and being kind to people around you and knowing that your language can have an effect on someone is important. Things to say and what can help vs hurt can help us build a nation that’s respectful of people’s boundaries and more kind and caring would be a great place to leave for our future generations. This year has been quite a year of adjustments for everyone to say the least. Fall is here and it’s one of my favorite seasons because of all the color changes, my birthday on 25th December, anniversary the day before that, celebrations and end of the year. So much to look forward to. To me it’s a season to look back on the year, make changes, and mind shifts so I can live a better life the year after. Overtime I have learned in life that change is the only constant we have... in life the more we resist change the more agony it brings with it. The more we embrace and adapt with it the more blissful and blessed you feel. In my mid-20s I used to spend year after year feeling miserable and didn’t realize why that used to keep happening. That’s when I learned if I keep doing the same things and expect different results then who is that on? I didn’t always think this way but over time I learned: (wish school taught me this instead of - Resisting change brings misery and misery loves company. What we focus on grows (thoughts we keep thinking whether negative or positive builds and grows those neural networks. Accepting negative emotions and teaching yourself that they are your bodies alert system giving you a heads up and being aware of them instead of getting sucked in by them, just observe. And know this season will pass too. Come December 31st your problems won’t end but if you can shift your mindset and the way you think about changes, anything that life sends your way you will become a badass at beating it! Tag a friend or share this with someone that needs to hear this. I am #challenging some of the people I know if they are interested in accepting this challenge and sharing. So together we can shift mind sets and build a community of people who are badasses at rolling with the punches! Self-love is a huge part of a healing journey. After a traumatic event we often beat ourselves for everything we have been through, as if we are always supposed to just know the answer to everything. We often hold ourselves back from the bliss we could be experiencing because of the unrealistic standards that we set for ourselves even if it’s to our detriment. Healing is about taking those baby steps and assessing what’s not working for us anymore and working towards becomi...ng a better, more wiser, more evolved higher selves. It’s the small steps we take towards our healing: acts of kindness towards ourselves, finding the love we lost for ourselves, being a little less harsher with ourselves.
