Please meet Joseph! Joseph wanted to join Got Game as soon as he got a glimpse of the after school basketball tournaments! He longed for the competitive atmosphere developed by coaches and campers and wanted a place to show off his skills in multiple sports, and make friends doing it! At Got Game, Joseph found those people, and gained valuable mentors in the process. He thinks back so fondly on the familial feeling of the community, and how each coach felt like a big brother or sister. This motivated him to give back as a CIT later in his camp career. He wanted to be a role model for younger campers, just as his coaches were for him. Joseph has a younger sister still in the program and now attends Alexander Hamilton High School as a Junior in the Humanities Magnet! #alumni #network #gotgame #family #community #summercamp

Hi, I’m Coach Joe! I’m originally from the east coast. I was a 3-sport athlete in high school and was lucky to be able to work as a coach and counselor for local youth football and basketball camps during the summer, and ref youth basketball games during the winter. I've worked as a volunteer in after school programs with kids during and after college and being able to join Got Game has been a huge silver lining for me during this pandemic! Please meet Solomon, or rather lately COACH Solomon! Solomon has been a part of Got Game for 10 years! He started at one of the original Los Angeles Got Game after school basketball tournaments in 2011 as a second-grader. Solomon LOVED that Got Game embraced competition, while also teaching fundamentals and fair play. Before long he was attending every camp and program possible! He was amazed at the creativity of the coaching staff, coming up with new, fun games almost weekly... and it inspired him to try new sports, like hockey, dodgeball, and of course the world-famous OASIS! He has memories amazing coaches (Coach Bear, Coach Mengo, Coach F) teaching life lessons and making so many friends! Solomon views Got Game as a fundamental part of his childhood, and we are proud to welcome him into the Got Game Alumni Network! Now, Solomon continues to be a part of our amazing Got Game family as a coach! Next up for our Got Game Alumni Network, Sophia BB! Starting in 2011 when in kindergarten, Sophia quickly took advantage of the many options at Got Game most notably singing songs with Coach Mengo (OG Coach alert), and acting in camp plays! Sophia appreciated how there was always something for everyone, making her feel included and part of the Got Game family. She learned to enjoy healthy competition and to always challenge herself and branch out.
