I've been worried about this senior boy since I first temperament tested him way back in February. He had medical issues and even though we wanted him he couldn't participate in program. When covid hit he was finally in a foster home where he had a bad incident with another dog so back to the shelter he went where many volunteers and shelter staff who loved him worked so hard to get him into a home where he would have the right structure to keep everyone safe. I promised whom...ever adopted him training and I was able to make good on my word and check out his new digs and his new awesome hooman. Happy to report that I approve and think after getting the right tools to help them become a solid team from #goodsittdogs they are now on the right track to not only manage his behaviors, but to enjoy each other to the fullest and give him the best life he can have. Had the pleasure of meeting this old man today. His new owners moved into his house and when the previous owners decided they weren't taking him with them when they moved he finally got off of the chain he was living on in the backyard and now he's got a lot of house skills to learn. Those include living with two littles, another male dog in the house, strangers entering his yard, marking in the house, living with kids and soon elderly parents. Spent today at #carsonanimalshelter for #cleartheshelters looking for a new addition for my friends who recently lost their last rescue. What a gem we found in this gorgeous adult Shepherd who maybe recently had pups and came in as a stray. This is one of my favorite services to offer my clients since the shelter can be an intimidating and overwhelming environment. I'm pretty well versed when it comes to all the different shelter systems from Los Angeles county to the Los Ang...eles City shelters, Pasadena, Orange county, and all of the smaller shelters in between. Adding a new dog or welcoming a foster can be overwhelming if you've only ever had one dog. Being a strong leader and setting clear boundaries are just as important as building a strong foundation for everyone. Great Saturday helping a client welcome a new addition into to their pack.
