Workshop Announcement: Introduction to Canine Disc with Michelle Largent Saturday April 10, 2021 4:30pm-6:30pm ... Limited to 6 working teams. No auditors. Cost is $80 This 2-hour workshop will introduce you and your dog to the sport of Canine Disc! Register Now for Introduction to Canine Disc: https://app.squarespacescheduling.com/schedule.php Whether you just want to learn how to safely play with your furry friend at your local park or enter a disc dog competition, this course will help you get started. Learn the foundations of the sport, including how to begin training your dog to catch and retrieve a Frisbee. Don't know how to throw a Frisbee? Not to worry. You will learn many tips on the art of throwing a Frisbee. In this workshop, you will learn various throwing techniques, how to motivate your dog, and the different games that you and your dog can play. Catching and jumping techniques will also be taught to help keep the dogs safe. You will need a disc or two. Choose a pet-safe frisbee. Do not buy the hard plastic ones at the pet stores as they shatter and are not safe for your dog’s mouth or teeth. A soft frisbee is fine or look for a specially-made dog disc from Hero or Wham-o (Fastback). Michelle recommends an Air 235 from Hero Disc USA (https://www.herodiscusa.com/air-235-blem-106.html) and will have some examples on hand for use if the one you have isn’t suitable. What should I bring? A disc or two that your dog likes Plenty of treats (NO treats that are oily, flaky, or crumbly please!) A fixed lead and a collar and/or harness for your dog and a long line, if needed. Dogs will be kept in the car or crate when not working. Plenty of water for your dog and a dish. Prerequisites: Dogs need to be at least 12 months of age. Dogs should have a fairly reliable sit, stay/wait, down and come. Dogs must have a reliable recall around distraction. Dogs with strong toy drive (preferred). Dogs must be non-aggressive towards humans and dogs. Cancellation Policy: No refund or credit is offered if a participant chooses to cancel their confirmed registration, or cannot or does not attend the workshop. If a registered participant needs to cancel and we are able to fill the spot with a suitable team, we will refund the participant their fee less a $20 processing fee. In the unlikely event that the workshop is cancelled, all confirmed participants will be notified immediately and will receive a full refund.
