I found this photo in the 1966 Arabian Horse Yearbook and think it deserves its own post. El Hadi was purchased by Friendship Farms from Al-Marah and was a top ...cutting -- and halter -- horse. Look closely at the photo and you'll see he's working a cow without wearing a bridle. In an ad in 1965, Bazy Tankersley wrote this about El Hadi: He won the world championship Arab open cutting in 1964. Another astonishment: El Hadi works at cutting much better when he has had a nice, fast exercise at the trot. He has been placing very consistently in three-gaited this year in stake classes, and shows lovely hock action. He is certainly better at that than he is at pleasure, anyway. He also won the gelding halter class at Nebraska. See more

Gifts of the Desert... Literally. Traditionally, Arabian horses were presented as diplomatic gifts to western leaders. Arabians were respected the world over ...prized for their unique abilities, purity, and economic value. By 1660 Arabians had arrived in England as royal gifts and by the 19th century, the practice was commonplace. In 1826, the stallion Padischah came to England as a gift from the Sultan of Turkey. In the early 19th century the Imaum of Muscat gave four Arabian horses to King William IV. Queen Victoria received several Arabians from leaders in Turkey, Egypt and India. This tradition continued into the 20th century. #ArabianHorseGalleries #OurHistory
