Alright, everyone! As many of you know, I posted my frustration with our dependency on PG&E and have suggested creating a FB page that is all about becoming a l...ittle less dependent upon PG&E with each blackout. I threw out a bunch of names for the FB page given by the community and the tally is in!.... (drum roll)... "Nevada County Energy Independence" got the most votes. "EmPower Nevada County" got the second most votes! SO my question is this... what would you think about making it more universal (not just Nevada County based) and combine the two names and call the upcoming FB page: "EmPower Energy Independence?"...... or just keep it to "Nevada County Energy Independence?" If this next round of criminal blackouts happen as planned Saturday through Monday-Tuesday this would mean that Nevada City businesses would only be open for 1-...2 days out of the WHOLE ENTIRE WEEK! These power outages are not protecting us. They only give PG&E an out from their responsibility for any fires. These outages do not reduce our risk of fire, but increase the chances of a conflagration by a generator/power cord, or a power surge when restoring power, and increases the likelihood of a fire spreading quickly because of lack of communication to call 911. I am all for blackouts during Wind Events BUT ONLY when there is actually a Wind Event!!! DOWNTOWN NEVADA CITY'S LINES ARE UNDERGROUND! They should not be shut off! And, yes, I know there are transmission lines that lead to the underground lines, they SHOULD BE A PRIORITY for tree clearing and limb removal! If this next outage goes through as planned from Saturday through Monday/Tuesday and the Downtown and 7-Hills District are dark we can expect businesses to go under. They CANNOT survive this. The business owners are telling me this... I will be calling everyone from our Senators to Co Supervisors, the CPUC, PG&E, and the Governor today -- but we need everyone to do the same including our Co. Supervisors. We cannot let PG&E SHUT DOWN OUR LOCAL ECONOMY. We have to call en masse and simply DEMAND PG&E NOT BLACKOUT OUR HISTORIC DOWNTOWN & 7-HILLS DISTRICT! We are paying the price for THEIR mismanagement AND greed! I’m worried for our town. if you talk to the merchants they don’t know if they can survive this and then there goes our city tax base. We are being held hostage by PG&E essentially so they can relieve themselves of their responsibilities and Nevada City is going to pay the price for this Please CALL! We need to UNITE around this! Good morning everyone, I am a new ish photographer in the area I have done photo shoots here and there for the last 2 years with mainly family and close friends... but I wanted to put myself more out there so am offering my services to others and branching out a little more, I try to be more on the cheaper side for families because I know how it is struggling with bills and kids and not having that extra money all the time ; I started taking photos just for the fun of it but then soon realized I loved doing it and wanted to help other capture that special moment I have two kids so Getting myself out there wasn’t to big of a deal but now that my littlest is getting bigger I want to get more out there.
