October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and my story is a fortunate one. In May of 2018 if found a small lump in my right breast by chance really. I immediately knew it wasn’t supposed to be there. After a rush of testing and appointments we got the news that it was, in fact, Breast Cancer. I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, grade 2, HER2+ at 39 years old. I had already been struggling with multiple health issues prior to treatment but nothing could’ve prepa...red me for the fight. Fortunately I never felt alone and after 15 rounds of chemotherapy and a double mastectomy with reconstruction I was diagnosed CANCER FREE!! I am still receiving monthly treatments and trying to manage side effects of chemo and hormone blockers but I am blessed with a beautiful life that I will forever fight for! You don’t fight cancer alone. So many friends and family held me up and sat along side me through every moment of my fight. (Literally so many I couldn’t add enough pictures ) Breast Cancer effects so many women and early detection is key! As most of you know, our kids are our entire lives. This week both older kids started college and a whole new chapter. Sierra started her nursing prerequisites at Merced College and is learning at home!
