Teacher Appreciation Week: Thank you teachers for all that you do for our Gator students! Your dedication is certainly valued! This is the perfect time for all of us to fully appreciate how much you mean to our students and families. As corny as it may sound, you make the difference in every child’s life!

Glen View's Spirit Assembly was a huge success this morning! Principal, Mr. Lopez, lead the school in promoting school spirit by cheering our Gator name and encouraging everyone to follow our PBIS character-building skills. Students were very engaged and excited to show their enthusiasm--thank you GATORS for being so AWESOME!

Glen View staff misses and loves their students, families, and communities! We are a strong, persistent, and loving family! We can do this together! Gator Pride!

Coffee with the Principal January 16, 2020: This morning's Coffee with the Principal proved to be productive and informative. Principal Lopez had the opportunity to exchange information with parents and listen to their concerns and comments. He took this time to have parents complete our district's "Thought Exchange" to give their input and opinions directly to the school district... Our Glen View principal, Mr. Lopez, and office staff, Miss Lucy and Mrs. Alma, and Vista Hill counselor, Ms. Quintero, ( not pictured) assisted families at Operation School Bell tonight at Kohl’s in San Marcos. It was great to see our students and parents enjoy an evening of shopping and family funthe kids’ excitement and joy was evident tonight. A BIG thank you to all the wonderful ladies at the Assistance League who volunteer their time and work so hard to make this possible for our students- Thank you!

Glen View Parents: You are invited to attend our upcoming PTA meeting! We have had great parent participation this year and we would like to keep the momentum going so we can continue doing great things for our school. Join us this Monday, Sept. 30th at 8:15 am.

Glen View Principal, Julio Lopez, and staff welcomed families at Back to School night today. Our annual event had a terrific turnout by our staff, parents, students, PTA, and Kona Ice. A big Thank You to everyone who came out!

Thank you to Principal Carrasco and our Maintenance crew, Joel Morales, Cedro Grimaldo, Mario Raya, Victor Downey for installing it and Tom Stuppy for designing this welcome sign for Glen View! It’s no surprise that EUSD staff is always at work to make our schools look great!!!

Glen View School has the best learning environments around! We would like to share just one example with you. Here you will see how some of our 4th grade students are engaged in the practice of creating models to solve the phenomena of earthquakes. Next Generation Science Standards are at work here at Glen View, where our Gator students become engineers.

Good Afternoon Parents and Family members! I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your cooperation. Recently we have had quite a few complaints from other parents, teachers and neighbors regarding our pick up and drop off area. For example, they have expressed concern regarding the traffic that is caused by parents not pulling forward, dropping off or picking up their student in the middle of the driveway, leaving their cars unattended in the fire lane, and the lack of following our safety procedures! Please take a few minutes and look over the map we have created for your review. I ask you to PLEASE HELP US out by following the drop off and pick up procedures as this will ensure that everyone, parents, teachers and students will remain safe at all times!!

Good Afternoon Glen View Families and community! We held our Annual Fall Festival last Friday where we enjoyed Devil Dogs BBQ, Kona Ice, popcorn, nachos and more. We want to take this time to thank everyone who joined us! Thank you for coming out and enjoying a nice fun filled evening with your children. We would also take this time to share just a few of many photos we took at the festival. Have a great weekend!

In an effort to continue supporting National Red Ribbon Week, here are the scheduled activities for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 3rd: Monday, Oct. 30th: School banner/posters "I Pledge to be Drug-Free." ... Tuesday, Oct. 31st: "Say BOO to Drugs" by wearing RED. Wednesday, Nov. 1st: "Team Up Against Drugs" and wear your favorite team jersey/shirt. Thursday, Nov. 2nd: "Sock It to Drugs" and wear CRAZY SOCKS. Friday, Nov. 3rd: "We're Too Bright to do Drugs" and wear your brightest clothing. Please help your student participate in these activities and show that Glen View is a Drug-Free School! We say NO to all Drugs!

We held our 2nd Pep Rally this year and it was a success! We talked about showing RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY AND SAFETY in every way possible. This seemed to boost morale with all of our students, teachers and staff! We will continue to hold these Pep Rallies once a month! Go Gators!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all our Glen View families that were able to help out with a donation of waters, canned foods, diapers and other items to the Houston relief. Also, a special THANK YOU to the YMCA staff for putting this together. Have a safe trip as you deliver these items to the YMCA affected by the hurricane in Texas! Glen View students and staff send you all our love and support!

I want take this moment to thank all of our Parents and families that came out our Open House last night!! It was a success!! Also a BIG THANK YOU to Miss Lily and her parent helpers for displaying our students Art in our school hallway! It was a lot of work and was very much appreciated by all our families as they walked through the hall way! The students that came were so excited to see their art!! Lastly, THANK YOU again to all the parents, teachers, and staff that helped bring all the Art down as well.

We had our Family Lunch Day combined with our Day of the Child where parents joined their students and were able to participate in different activities according to their grade. I'd like to share a few moments we captured during today's event!

Today we had the privilege of having Award Winning Author Scott Sussman visit our school! We want to thank him for coming and sharing his story and books with our students!

What's happening At Glen View . SmART Art Program All of our students participated in the SmART program. Our School was very well represented at the SmART Festival this past Saturday! We had true pieces of art. Great job Gators!! Way to go!!

A big CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Ms. Garduño for being chosen as our Teacher of the Year! Her wonderful work inside the classroom and support out in our community truly shines!

Vista Hill at Glen View School The Vista Hill PROMOTE Program seeks to further the educational progress and well-being of at-risk children in grades PreK-3rd. The program’s clinical staff utilizes the Incredible Years Child Dinosaur Program practice model, which is evidence based, to provide classroom presentations and small group intervention. Trang Phan, Glen View’s Vista Hill Promote Clinician, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who leads weekly classroom present...ations to students in Kindergarten and first grade. Mrs. Phan also conducts small group intervention to students in grades K-3. The small group intervention is for students who are in need of additional review of the material and practice of the lessons taught in the Child Dinosaur classroom lesson. Through the efficacy of this program, 35% of Glen View students are receiving additional social and emotional support by learning pro social skills taught in the classroom lessons and in small groups. What’s Happening at Glen View Mission 2 $AVE with Mission Federal Credit Union This is a program that has been a convenient and consistent way for our students to learn how to save and to understand the value of money. We would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to Mission Federal Credit Union for having the Mission 2 $AVE Program here at Glen View and for helping our students be lifelong savers.

What’s happening at Glen View READ ACROSS AMERICA week with DR. SEUSS We celebrated Reading Across America in many ways this week. One way we did was by having D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read), Daughters of the American Revolution (DRA) and myself, Mr. Carrasco went and read to classes.... Many of our staff members also celebrated by dressing up as their favorite book character. We had so much fun!

Our 3rd grade students presented their scientific journeys at our Second Annual Invention Convention today. Inspired by Alexander G. Bell and Thomas A. Edison our third graders, launched to solve problems of today, including automatic dog feeder, glow in the dark snow, the ocean clean up truck and many more. Glen View is such a wonderful place to be!

Vista Hill Parenting Classes at Glen View! Glen View parents participate in the new Vista Hill PROMOTE! Parent Group. Parents learn about various topics such as proactive discipline, ways to increase and support child’s school readiness and problem-solving skills and calm down strategies. Parents are actively engaged, meeting once a week to improve their parenting skills, share ideas and meet other families to create a parent community within the school. Greetings Parents and Community members,We want to invite you to come and experience our new and improved changes to our Glen View Library. Welcoming changes have been happening to our library by adding new bookshelves, student reading centers, computers centers for students to take their AR test, and reading nook to sit and read their favorite books.

I would like to thank California Granite and Flooring Inc. for teaming up with Glen View School and sponsoring all of our Secret Angels this year! Their thoughtful donation of over 100 toys brought holiday cheer to 150 Glen View students. The generous support of businesses like California Granite and Flooring Inc. make it possible for our Secret Angel Project to exist. We appreciate their support of our mission and the work we do at Glen View School. Thank you California ...Granite and Flooring Inc.! Much gratitude also goes out our Family Liaison, Lily Arana, for coordinating this project. This is our second year organizing our Secret Angel Project during the holidays, and it's been a huge success! Our volunteers played an important role in our Secret Angel Project this year! They generously donated their time to gift wrap more than 100 toys that were donated. Their time and support with this project is greatly appreciated! Our volunteers make Glen View shine!

Our 5th grade students continued their science experience by participating with the Splash Lab Mobile yesterday morning. The purpose for the Splash Lab visit was to have students learn about NGSS Science Topics such as: Ecosystems and Earth Human Activity. Students were able to learn about the food chains, how/why we need to keep the earth clean, causes of littering, water pollution, types of pollution (sediments, litter, bacteria, too much nutrients, and chemicals). After our students had an opportunity to learn these topics, they were then quizzed and debriefed to share what they learned at the end of the presentation. Our gator Students were also given calendars, booklets, and bracelets as a reminder of what they learned during the Splash Lab presentation.

It is great to have the opportunity to share what is happening at our school.
