The ANC WR education committee is pleased to present a lesson plan that could be taught in all schools, public or private, throughout the nation. The lesson plan is a positive engaging learning opportunity to explain the history of Artsakh and through this lesson explain the value of the Armenian situation during this inhumane war. Click here: https://drive.google.com//1RBRNXokxclMnGglosq13lQctT2sOFmy The lesson plan was created by Mrs. Laura Gaboudian, author of the children's book Under the Light of the Moon, and a lifelong educator. Please ask your local school through your students or through your contacts to consider teaching this lesson in the next week as a way of supporting the traumatized Armenia students and community.

Today is #IndigenousPeoplesDay2020 in California. Glendale is situated on Tongva land. The story of what happened to the Tongva people is one of violence and repression, but also of resilience. Thank please informative links below. "The names of nearby towns and cities, such as Tujunga, Azusa and Pacoima, come from the Tongva language, and the Gabrielino Trail, which runs through the Angeles National Forest, is named after them. More recently in 2002, thanks to the efforts o...f local resident and prominent Tongva Tribe member Richard Toyon, a summit in the Verdugo Mountains was named Tongva Peak." https://www.latimes.com//tn-gnp-1015-intersections-descend https://www.npr.org//to-manage-wildfire-california-looks-t PBS has resources to learn more as well: https://ca.pbslearningmedia.org/col/NativeAmericanHeritage/

Next week, our second action day in the #YearOfPurpose is JUSTICE FOR GEORGE DAY (October 14th, George Floyd’s Birthday). We have a special creative challenge f...or the day. More curricular resources to come, including a special curation of healing justice activities. We welcome you to #ReimagineEverything2020 Note: We highly recommend educators to not showcase or replay the video of the police murder that took George Floyd’s life. Don’t do it. This activity is more useful and orients us all toward envisioning powerful futures, and engaging in acts of resistance that bring those futures into being.
