Today we honor Bill and all of the brave survivors of burns who embody courage and dedication. Our entire department including our recruit class reviewed the lessons of this incident today in an effort to honor our history and better our future.

As we continue to celebrate Fire Prevention Week, we can’t go without recognizing our incredible FPB team led by Battalion Chief and Fire Marshal Jeff Ragusa.The Fire Prevention team are the quiet heroes behind the scenes of this department whose every action lends itself to a safer place for residents, visitors, firefighters and the environment. Last year the Fire Prevention team inspected 100% of the parcels located in the high fire hazard zone and 100% of the required residential and commercial facilities in Glendale. They conducted over 1,100 new construction inspections and 1,300 plans check as well as collected over 215,000 pounds of hazardous waste.
