'It really was exciting to collect the photos and samples knowing that it could potentially be such an extraordinary sighting'". Ever heard of the hoodwinker sunfish? An interesting article was written by the UCSB Current about the rare fish that washed ashore at Coal Oil Point Reserve. Conservation Specialist, Jessica Nielsen, helped to conduct measurements and sampling with an ultimate goal to successfully ID the fish. Jessica visited to present at the Ocean Institute's GIOS Conference in February. Keep up the awesome work, Jessica!
