Today we light the Ghirardelli marquee white as we mourn the loss of Cecilia Chiang, a local restaurateur and culinary icon. In the late 1960s, she moved her popular restaurant, The Mandarin, to a newly developed Ghirardelli Square. She introduced Americans to authentic, regional Chinese cuisine, forever changing our understanding of these culinary traditions. We are thankful for her influence and will miss seeing her at Palette. Our sincere condolences to her family.
