In this letter from the CA Fair Plan, We'd like to share with you some information that can help you or your family members. FAIR RENTAL VALUE COVERAGE: "We realize that many of your clients are being impacted by the... current wildfires. Our thoughts are with them and their families at this time. As many homeowners are being evacuated from their homes, it is important to understand the Dwelling policy's Fair Rental Value coverage. If [you are] ordered [to evacuate] by a Civil Authority as a direct result of damage to a neighboring location from a covered peril (such as fire), Fair Rental Value will be covered for up to two weeks. The contract defines Fair Rental Value as follows: If a loss covered under this policy makes that part of the Described Location rented to others, held for rental or occupied by you unfit for its normal use, we cover its "Fair Rental Value", meaning the fair rental value of that part of the Described Location rented to others, held for rental or occupied by you less any expenses that do not continue while that portion of the Described Location rented, held for rental or occupied by you is not fit to live in. The policy includes a 10% extension of Coverage A- Dwelling for Fair Rental Value. In addition, supplemental Fair Rental Value is a separate coverage with additional limits. Please check the current coverages and limits of the policy... The deductible clause of the policy does not apply to Fair Rental Value coverage.
