GeoHazards International focuses on staying ahead of disasters rather than reacting to damaging events, but the work is never purely technical. What does change look like? People learning together and working together, having a voice. I feel honored to be a part of this. #ChooseToChallenge --Julie Jomo, Communications Director at GeoHazards International. She's a writer, technical editor, designer, listener.

"In my conversations with #women of different generations in our work areas, I've realized that while we've come a long way in lifting women up, we still have to address the persistent #gender_challenges in our day to day realities. There is so much more that needs to be done." -- Aparajita Acharya, Creative Director at GeoHazards International. She's a storyteller, filmmaker, graphic designer and an event planner. #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021

Celebrating Upama Ojha, GeoHazards International's Nepal Representative, disaster manager, physicist, writer, advocate for smarter and safer development in Nepal. Working with policymakers at all levels, she makes resilience opportunities understandable. For earthquake and landslide scenarios in far west Nepal, she wrote women's perspectives into narratives, weaving in technical details and advice about how to reduce risk. #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021. "There are many instanc...es where I have felt that people in every level find difficulty prioritizing disaster preparedness in development works. But associating with GHI, I have started to engage with the people in such a way that now I am able to convince them where they understand and practice even the technical aspects. This is what encourages me to work further, I feel this as a real tangible achievement." See more
