While the public health emergency may have dashed our plans to hold a celebration for the GOB&P this year, we all can do a little something to wish it a happy birthday. The San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department is surveying residents about the improvements they want made to parks and playgrounds ahead of the parks bond scheduled for the November 2020 ballot. We encourage you to take the survey and tell SFRPD you want the GOB&P to be a priority. The survey may be open until late May, but please don’t delay.

On April 9, our friends at OpenSFHistory, a program of the Western Neighborhoods Project, posted over 400 photographs of San Francisco. One photograph from 1963 (above) shows the widening of Geneva Avenue during construction of Interstate 280. In the background stands the Geneva Office Building & Powerhouse with its original carbarn. The bus yard, now known as the Upper Yard, can be seen as well. The photo was taken by Walter Dielbaum and provided to OpenSFHistory by transit historian Emiliano Echeverria.
