On this week in 2018, we took a journey to the other side of the planet and immersed ourselves in the "Tale of Two Koreas." It was a trip shaped by humanity of people living on a peninsula deeply divided in ideology and prosperity. Few moments were more touching than honoring the sacrifices of those close to our Members as we laid a wreath at the Korean Military Academy. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of upholding our ideals of freedom and liberty as we continue to work to solve the issues that linger from the Korean War 70 years ago. #TBT

Being the boss is never easy. But in 2020, when everything is working against you, it's an incalculably difficult job. September is an important month in WWII history. It marks the German invasion of Poland in 1939 that kicked off the war, and the surrender of Japan in 1945 ending the final theatre of the war. In 2015, we traveled as a delegation to the UK, France, and Germany to walk the hallowed battlefields and war rooms of WWII. By journeying to understand the decisions of leaders in the past, we are empowered to lead today. #tbt

Protest and social unrest have played a part in some of the most consequential art in history. Dean Steven Tepper of ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts took us on a journey about how and why that is, and the implication on our broader culture.

Our duty to honor the legacy of 9/11 endures. The freedom and liberty that define our way of life are values that countless have died for, and many around the world are still fighting for. Even in times of turmoil and unrest, our American way of life must never be taken for granted. As we push this great and ambitious American experiment to be even better, we do so with pride and gratitude for what this nation has afforded us. As leaders, it is our duty to live the values that make America such a special place: freedom, liberty, and the opportunity to succeed. Today, and every day, we remember.

Steven King called books a uniquely portable magic and we couldn't agree more. Through reading we gain a richer understanding of the world around us and a broadened perspective that guides our decisions as leaders. On #InternationalLiteracyDay, we are proud to celebrate our Members who are using their voice and their pen to enrich and animate people's lives. From children's books to history and thrillers, Gen Next's authors are writing something for everybody!

You know and love the Gen Next Foundation for its bold venture philanthropy. But when crisis hit we adapted our model to meet the challenges posed by COVID by working with NYNeighbor2020 to deploy nearly $200k in microgrants and direct aid to neighborhood organizations in New York City, touching the lives of over 7,000 New Yorkers. On #InternationalCharityDay, we thank all of our partners in this initiative and the bold, brave people making the world better.

As students return to campus, the intersection of cancel culture and academic freedom is a concern. Brown University Professor Glenn Loury joined us to share his perspective that political performance is becoming "company policy" at our universities. #AcademicFreedom #cancelculture

Did You Know? The Berlin Wall's construction was completed in August of 1961 - nearly 60 years ago this month! Last August, Gen Next Members took a walk "Behind the Berlin Wall" to examine the geopolitical history and leadership of the Cold War and commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall. Our takeaway? America is an empire of good. Big thanks to Ken Mehlman for helping create an unforgettable experience for us!
