"Trees - Vincent, like many other artists, liked to paint the same or similar subject many times. You might think of his paintings with nights full of concentric stars, or vases full of golden sunflowers. You might not think about trees, all kinds of trees, from his iconic cypress to almond groves, stately pines to tangled forests. He and I share that love of trees, so this is the spot in the collection where I allowed our loves to intertwine. I chose to paint many of my own ...favorite trees, but using a different one of my own signature glass techniques for each piece. The resulting series serves as both a nod to Vincent's beloved tree subjects and a technical retrospective of my own explorations in glass process. Trees are sacred, essential guardians of the earth, purifiers of the air, and beautiful beyond measure. Save the trees, save the earth, save ourselves.' Cynthia Ann Swan Cynthia Ann Swan - Trees Series: "Creative Path" (20" x 16"), "Deep Woods" (12" x 25"), "White Birch Forest" (13" x 36"), "Rainbow Eucalyptus" (48" x 20") & "Greenwood" (25" x 25"). Individual Kiln-Worked Glass. On display through April 30th. www.GDCAgallery.com

A great oral tradition blotted out by the engined noise of super tankers. A tragedy.... Archerfish: How is it possible to be successful at what it does without binocular vision? The answer is time. Like art, practice may have something to do with it.... A Cell Phone Dreaming: Probabilities. What are the od...ds that everything we are and everything we claim to known isn't the remnant or by product of a cell phone dreaming? "Doorways I really like the simplicity of this image and the depth that I was able to achieve. This was originally a black and white photo that I hand colored." - Cheryl Hrudka "Bannack- Central American exterior colors brought inside as a buffer against winters that are too long and too gray.... "One warm afternoon, I photographed water moving across mosaic tiles covering the entire surface of a swimming pool. When the light seemed just about right, the moving water appeared to fracture and reshape the pattern of mosaics creating the images found here. Water was very much an artist working with me creating these 5 unique 'Water Portraits'. " - Jane Marshall Jane Marshall, "Water Reflects On Water" - Triptych, (18" x 22") & "Mosaic Invention" - Triptych, Tryptic" (18"... x 33"). Water Portrait Series - Archival Photographs on Aluminum. "Paint takes me beyond the verbal telling of a myth. It makes the story more immediate. It’s like slipping through the paint into the skin of the story.
