After coaching more than 150 matches (adults & kids) Saturday and Sunday and driving back getting in at 11:55pm - we brought home some cool hardware! The collective effort of the Gracie Barra Simi Valley competitors placed us as 2nd best school in the American Open for Jiu Jitsu World League This weekend we displayed beautiful Jiu-Jitsu with many students submitting the whole division. We are beyond proud of everyone that competed, the team members chearing on, the ones that came all the way to Vegas to help coach and support our teammates in any way possible, you all are the best and this is OUR VICTORY!

I later developed my own story and close relationship with this specific technique/situation and what it always stood out to me was the versatility as well as its efficacy under many different sets of rules and aspects of a fight. I cover the history of when Renzo perfected this as well as pointers when to use the Guillotine including its versatility and a few useful concepts that go beyond the application of this move. We cover the guillotine starting from standing positions, including available takedowns and finishes. To become truly proficient I feel it is always useful to delve into the defensive side of a move of specific situation. This will allow you to progress you proficiency further, especially when facing more experienced fighters. We cover sweeps, transitions and finishing situations mostly focusing on failed guillotine attends of as follow up attacks that can be combined to the Guillotine. SAVE THE DATE Adults Belt Ceremony - December 5th!

Team this is a MUST READ What an amazing story of motivation. Last night Todd Peterson earned his 4th stripe on the white belt even though his been training at the school since 2017!! Todd’s journey in JJ is such an inspiration and a testament that anyone can make it happen if you want bad enough. Todd started training back in 2017 at an age that most people would be to afraid to try a class, during his first year he had to stop training because he had to undergo a s...evere back surgery. Todd had his spine fused and the doctors told him he would never train JJ again, he refused to accept that as a limitation and after 1.5yrs off doing PT he came back to training. In the middle of his readjustment in class we had to shutdown and switch to virtual classes. For the last 4 months Todd has been working 3 times a week at home with a dummy to keep up with class and he earned his 4th stripe. Congratulations Todd you have definitely inspired me and I hope your story motivates so many people and everyone can see that they have within themselves the power to change, if you want something bad enough you will have it!!
