About three weeks before the world shut down, Gather opened, smack dab in the middle of the tsunami. Grocery stores were still allowed to keep their doors open as essential businesses, and Gather followed the regulations as they changed by the day and often by the hour. Soon, Atascaderans fell in love with the store for its abundance of locally grown and ranched products. "We want a place where people can feel connected with each other," Arries said. "Even through COVID, and people being quarantined at times, people would walk in and say, 'Oh! Today I give thanks and honor the inspiring life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who blazed a powerful, relentless trail for gender equality and women’s rights. Her legacy is one of inspiration and determination that will never be forgotten. Being a female born in the 60’s, I grew up trusting in my equal value as a human being. I had complete faith that I could forge any path I set my mind to achieve. As a young woman I believed my dreams could be actualized: a college degre...e, owning my own business, all while embracing motherhood and raising children with the same faith in their power to actualize their potential. I am aware that these beliefs and abilities would not have been part of my zeitgeist without the vision and hard work of RBG. Rest In Peace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
