Hawani Garinagu was born on June 7, 1997. The group's mission is to safeguard Garifuna music, dance, ancestral songs, gastronomy, spirituality, internal customs, clothing, and cosmo-vision. The group has performed at the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism INGUAT, and through this entity they have managed to get contracts to perform inside the stages of international cruise ships that anchor with thousands of tourists in Puerto Barrios and Puerto Quetzal. This has given them the ...advantage of being promoters of the Garifuna culture which has an immeasurable outreach. They have performed at the great Miguel Ángel Asturias National Theater in the capital of Guatemala, also in various activities of the Presidential House of Guatemala. One of the most important appearances where Hawani Garinagu performed was when they welcomed 400 delegations from around the world and played for them at Casa Santo Domingo in La Antigua Guatemala and they also welcomed, at the La Aurora international airport, the different delegations that arrived for the festivities on the year of the Mayan Baktun. They appeared in San Salvador for the Trifiniu meeting where El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala participated to achieve cultural exchanges without having to use documents such as visas and passports. They were awarded by the president of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala, the honorable engineer Murphy Paiz. They have performed on television channels: Guatevision, Nuestro Mundo Por La Mañana Canal 7, Telecentro Canal 13, and the program Mentes Sanas Así Se Answer led by Professor Alfonso Ramirez.
