In Lotusland’s Japanese Garden, the Ginkgo leaves fall on the Sanjuno To, or three-storied pagoda. The three progressively smaller curved roofs signify heaven, earth and man. The ukebana (lotus bud finial) represents the Buddha. Sanjuno To are placed along streams or ponds so their reflection is seen on the water, or placed on a hillside as a focal point. #lotuslandcelebrates #japanesegarden #seesb #ishidoro #ginkgo

Our Darwin orchid (Angraecum sesquipedale) is in bloom and perfectly coincides with the birthday of Charles Darwin on today, Feb. 12th. Upon seeing a specimen of this flower with its long nectar tube, Darwin predicted that a moth with a long proboscis would be the pollinator. About four decades after his prediction the moth was discovered! This is an example of co-evolution. #darwinorchid #charlesdarwin #angraecumsesquipedale #coevolution #plantsofmadagascar #orchid #lotuslandgarden #seesb
