Modesto native son Derek Mari, a 2014 Beyer High School graduate who now works in Los Angeles as a director and writer, is making a film about Crohn’s disease and how it has impacted his life. According the www.wefunder.com/crohnie crowd-funding campaign he has started, Crohnie is a comedy about identify, family and the daily struggles with an embarrassing illness. Our friends at the Modesto firm Takapa Media, Inc recently asked the Gallo Center how they could help out during our COVID-19 closure. The result is this donated video looking at the enhancements, repairs, deep cleaning and new features that have been taking place at the Center over the last several months. Our deepest thanks to the Takapa team, including company president and Gallo Center trustee Ryan Dziadosz, who served as the host/narrator in the video.

Tonight the Gallo Center is joining with other performing arts venues nationwide in support of #RedAlertRESTART, a campaign designed to raise awareness of the struggling live entertainment and events industry and prompt Congressional action on COVID-19 relief measures. Venues across the country will be lit up in red to express solidarity on sustaining a drastically impacted industry that was first to close during the pandemic and will likely be the last to reopen. The #RedA...lertRESTART campaign, which follows a similar event in the UK last month, is organized by the #WeMakeEvents campaign. Among the famous buildings said to be participating tonight are Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall in New York City, MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the Capitol Records building in Los Angeles, Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Scores of organizations throughout California also are participating. #GalloCenter #GalloArts #RedAlertRESTART #SaveOurStages #WeMakeEvents #WeMakeEventsHappen #GalloCenterfortheArts #performingarts #performinglive
